Jesus was Jewish. Jews do not take Christ as the messiah, so would Jesus even believe he is a savior if he were alive today?

The answer you come to says a lot about your faith and theology. If you read books by Karen Armstrong and other religious authors, you will find that most of them believe that Jesus DID NOT believe he was God's only son/Messiah. In fact, some believe that non-Jews living in Europe misinterpreted the words written down about Jesus.
Is Jesus essential in building a relationship with God? To me he is, but I don't think he has to be to everyone. For me, Jesus represents what God is all about: compassionate, forgiving, yet, like a good father, asks us to follow His rules.
Clearly my views are in the minority (watch how many thumbs down I get for simply sharing them!). Still, your question is valid. In the end, if Jesus is my messiah, my savior, but is not to my Buddhist and Jewish friends, can't that be alright? Can't we learn to respect each other?

Yes. Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, John 14:6, Matthew 26:62-64 (before the Sanhedrin at His trial); Luke 23:3 (to Pilate), and his life fulfilled numerous prophecies.

The eyes of everyone in the synagoe was on him and he bagan by saying Today this scripture is fullfilled in your hearing. Luke 4:18 -21 quoting Isaiah. Sounds to me like he kew he was the Saviour.

Jesus constantly referred to Himself as the "Son of Man" and according to John 3:16-18, Jesus said He did not come to the world to judge it, but that the world could be saved through Him. If those aren't the words of a Man who thought He was the Savior, I don't know what would be.

Yes, Jesus was a Jew, and he was rejected by the Jews, and He is the Savior by the testimony of His own mouth.
