If you understand Buddhism you understand that 'personality' doesn't exist. So when people hear the Dalai Lama talk about peace love or joy, we understand that he is referring to 'personality'. However 'personality' doesn't exist in any of the forms of Buddhism but rather a 'philosophic other' or an 'impersonal other' but no 'personality' whatsoever. So Buddhism lacks a reasonable explanation for their views which means they can only be explained existentially or by taking some kind of irrational leap intellectually. Buddhism like science rejects absolutes which means they understand that they can never arrive at absolute answers concerning anything but are engaged in only discovering the journey. The question really isn't does anyone believe in reincarnation, but has anyone come up with a base for accepting the idea to begin with? The question is simply no as indicated by the Dalai Lama's inability to explain what love peace and joy are minus the existence of 'personality' is. Love joy and peace can only be explained in terms of the Jude Christian tradition which is the only system that deals with 'personality'. Reincarnation cannot exist no matter how fancy and mystical we make it sound. There is simply nobody home in the world of Buddhism as with science.
