The point is that we are alive, and where there is life, there is the hope of making things better. Who says humans won't have colonized the galaxy first?

I think if we all come together and try hard enough, it may be a small chance, but i think we as a species could escape such a fate. Either by making another planet habitable somehow, or possibly moving to another galaxy all together. This won't happen for billions of years though, so we might as well try to live our own live the best we can.
