What is so gothic about it?

The whole painting is in a neo-Gothic style. It looks like a late medieval/proto-Renaissance picture of saints or something if you just look at the faces.

I'm being sarcastic as was the painter. Gothic also means 'stuck in the middle ages' not just the 'black dress code peeps'.
The window is neo gothic in style.

The painting resembles Flemish painting in the 15th century (as someone pointed out). The people look very much like in paintings of that time.
