Ellas son jovenes. They (Those girls) are young. The adjective needs to agree with the subject. The subject is plural and feminine so the adjective has to be plural and feminine. Joven is both masculine and feminine though. You just need to make it plural.

Keep it plural.
Los jovenes means young people, not just teenagers. Once you get old enough to call people at universities "college kids", you view the term young people differently.

if they are men, you need to said
Ellos son jóvenes
If they are women and men you will to say
Ellos son jóvenes (pluran both sex).
if you need to say in singular to one person.
woman: ella es joven
man: el es joven

plurial: Ellas son joven
*Male*
singular: El es joven
pluiral: Ellos son joven
