Supposedly we are born with dead souls and must be "born again" because our progenitors decided to eat a piece of fruit that somehow contained knowledge. First of all... what kind of crazy fruit contains transferable knowledge, and secondly, how does eating such amazing fruit kill a soul or separate a soul from a god that is supposedly omnipresent?

Please provide evidence if possible. Note also that scripture does not equal evidence... your claim should be independently attestable.

It was not the fruit itself that caused the death of the first pair. It was the act of disobedience.
You see, the action of disobedience was in itself a statement.
That statement was this: "We are going to decide for ourselves what is good and what is bad because God said that we should not eat the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden".
The fruit could have been literally any kind of fruit but it was clearly the action, the rebellion that the action represents, that was the cause for death.
That is why for many years I personally had wondered also about this fruit. For the pronouncement had been when being given the order to not 'eat of the tree', that on that day the man would positively die.
Yet what happened? The man lived on, slowly aged and then proceeded to die.
What does this mean? When we consider all the things that happened 'post fruit', we can see that the man was figuratively dead in God's eyes, for God no longer intervened for the sake of man.
The first born son, killed the second born son. Life progressed as the numbers of people increases into ever more violence and wickedness.
When we consider that all of this is the result of mankind becoming as dead to him, we can start to understand that it was this first act of disobedience that is the root of all the ills that plague the human race.
Once we understand this, we also have the chance to begin to see, that it really was a question of sovereignty that was brought into existence by the mere act of disobedience of that first consumption of the forbidden fruit.
The fact is, that all time since that first act, has been allowed as a teaching tool, to prove beyond any reasonable doubt, that mankind, was never meant to live without God's ruler-ship.
Virtually every type of government has been devised and tried by man, the greatest minds of all time have tried to promise us a better world through science, and yet, suffering and destruction are the true realities of the human race that refuses to submit to God's headship.

Man, is a soul, and the very act of disobedience, is what has killed that soul.

You leave your 13 year old at home for the first time alone. You say, do whatever you want, but do not turn on the stove, you could cause a fire and burn the house down.

Is the stove a harmful object? No.
Is the stove a dangerous object? Yes
Is the stove a key component in any kitchen? Yes
Is the stove inherently evil? No
Is the use of the stove by inexperienced persons a dangerous situation? Yes

God's Creation was good. The fruit played its role. God simply asked them not to eat of it, because it would upset the balance of nature if they did. It was not for them to eat.

They disobeyed and "burned the house down".

The disobedience is the heart attitude that made us sinners. The act of eating the fruit unfortunately released a set of consequences that will send you to your grave too.

Sin destroys. Unrepentant Sin destroys completely.

It was not the fruit itself it was the fact that they were disobedient to the command that was given which was " Do not eat from the tree of life" Eve allowed an animal to sway her from her father. and ADAM let a woe- man keep him from his first and only true friend. I hope that this helps, Choose reality don't take the bible so literally k! Jesus said that those that have an ear to hear will hear and those that didn't wouldn't so what shall you gain trying to figure it out? Being atheist you would never get an understanding that would make sense to you anyway!! Peace and Hairgrease!LOL

GOD gave man total dominion over the plants and animals on the earth. HE only gave one rule: "Do not eat of the fruit on the tree in the middle of the garden!" HE gave this rule because HE did not want robots, but companions that had their own choice. Adam and Eve made the choice to eat the fruit they were told they could not eat. DISOBEDIENCE is the choice, the consequence was that we could not longer live in perfect harmony with GOD. As I tell my children, we have choices in our every day life and with each choice comes consequences. Whether the consequences are good or bad depends on our choices, and all our choices affect everyone around us. You will be in my prayers. Hope you find your answers.

Adam and Eve sinned DELIBERATELY. They were perfect - which means it wasn't a mistake. It wasn't that they stumbled and accidentally ate the forbidden fruit. It was a conscious and intentional act of disobedience to God. It was because Eve listened to Satan tell her that God was trying to deprive them of something. That if she ate the fruit she would "become like God" able to determine for herself what was good and what was bad. It was an act of rebellion. Reflecting the attitude of Satan who felt that God was not deserving of the worship of His creation. it was NOT just that they ate a piece of fruit. In all of this Satan and the erring couple raised a question that could not be answered by "just forgiving" them. Te questioned God's right to rule, His right to set the standard as to what is right and what is wrong. If he had just forgiven them then the question would still remain. If he had destroyed them and started over then the angels in heaven who witnessed this event would also question. He had to allow time for Satan to prove his claim... and fail miserably... so that when Jesus came as a ransom and when God's Kingdom was brought to rule... there would be no room to again question whether God's way is the right way. God IMMEDIATELY upon the sin in the Garden formed the solution and made the way out for the human family. The first scripture in the BIble lays out the theme of the entire body of scripture. Genesis 3:15 which states that the seed of the serpent (all those who follow Satan) will be bruised in the head by the seed of the woman (Christ) - this head bruise representing the final end (death) of the devil and all who choose his way over Gods.

It is a false man made story to convince a belief that story maker has to others.

Islam teaches that God created all the souls He had planned to send on earth (From Adam to the last human that will come on earth). He addressed them all at one time, explained who their creator is and what for He has created all of them. Then He made them to sleep and has programmed the time and date for each soul to be implanted into the fetus in the woman's womb when their pregnancy completes four months which probably is the time when fetus is completely formed as a baby.

God Angeles do the rest as they are programmed to do.

It was not actually the fruit... God told Adam not to eat from the tree, but Eve did, even though she knew she wasn't supposed to. God gave them a choice, and they chose the wrong path, so now all of mankind is born with sin...

Thank You...

I wasn't the fruit that damned them, it was the fact that they disobeyed God. They stopped believing what He said and instead chose to believe the lie of Satan. The Bible clearly states this. Disobedience to God's word is what kills a soul. Because of the first Adam's sin death and separation from God was passed on to all mankind through physical birth. But, through the second Adam, who is Jesus, we have to be born again which is a spiritual birth, not a physical birth. So now we are physical beings who are able to know a spiritual God and fellowship with Him through his Son. Again, it wasn't mere fruit that separated us from God, it was our disbelief in His word.

It wasn't about the fruit, it was about obedience to God - He told them not to do it. It could have been anything else. There was nothing to stop them from asking God for wisdom and knowledge; they (Adam and Eve) just decided to take matters in their own hands and do what they weren't supposed to do.

it wasn't the eating of the fruit that caused this...it was the fact that they disobeyed a direct command from God. he could have said anything, and if they still hadn't obeyed the result would have been the same
