The majority thanked Him for helping us create this country, but now the majority seems to want to blot Him out.

Exellent question. It says in the Torah that G-d said to Abraham: "Anyone who curses you will be cursed." The word for the first curse is a very mild word for curse.

Consider that the United States is actively working to divide Israel now and give the heartland of Israel to the Palestinians who weren't even there before 1948 and you have your answer.

Although I'm Jewish, I don't like to see the decline of christianity in this country. When I was young, Sunday was a day off for all but essential businesses and people had time to go worship. (football was considered essential, but you get the idea.)

But remember, in the 50's and 60's we had problems that seemed to be a result of forsaking G-d, too. Hurricanes, earthquakes, wars, nukes, cuban missile crisis, etc.

All we can do is do the best we can ourselves and let the G-d sort it out.

Keep in mind, though, that Joshua was talking to Israel in this passage. Jews cannot stay in the land unless they follow the Torah. Sadly, much of Israel is secular now. Although some are working to improve this, there is a long way to go. Where the cutoff is, G-d will decide.

Shalom

To know the truth and deny it is worse then to never have known the truth at all.

This is a perfect depiction of the United States of America. This could that was once a nation under God has turned into a land of lawlessness.

The interesting, but upsetting mind set of this country is that most claim to be christian. Yet, does it not seem to reason that if that were so, this nation would be getting better instead of worse?

The problem is that most who claim they are christian and believe in God believe with their lips, but their hearts are far from God.

So to answer your question of has God forsaken the United States, all I can say is this. Without even considering our blood stained streets, I believe we are the only nation of the face of this earth that suffers every natural catastrophy known to man.

And then we examine 9/11, one must ask that if God still had a protective hedge around this nation, does it stand to reason 9/11 would never have happened? By examining the history of Israel, many times God used other nations to execute his judgment upon them. And I believe he has and will do the same to the United States if she does not repent.

Will she repent? Doubtful. As far as this nation has fallen from the truth of God's Word, imagine how much further she will fall when the rapture occurs and the beacons of truth that preached the truth of God's Word are no longer there to debunk the deceitfulness of the devil.

There is no 'God' as such, that entity most people believe in today - does not exist. And never did. That which is the basis became 'God' was a fraud. A genuine creator of worlds, the universe, etc - does not appear in the Bible - and say "Here I am, I am God, do as I say or else I will blast you to kingdom come, etc etc" - why would "God" do that? Play to the theatrics ... only a nutcase of a God who has nothing better to do... etc...

A country is always what it is by it's actions.
Hey - this is 'reality' here.
God does not make anything or anyone good or great, etc.
It is because they have that quality themselves...

You cannot appeal to God to get you out of a bad situation.
You must problem solve it yourself.
This is life - this is real. Countries likewise have to do the same.

You might be right. In this country today a lot of people use God and religion as an insurance policy (Just in case) and have forsaken the things that matters to God, such as principles, values and morals. There can be no doubt that what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah was a type and shadow of what will come upon us.

i feel forsaken quite a lot anymore.i dont know whats become of our country.after 9/11,people seemed to care.people seemed to be concerned for the welfare of our fellow human beings.but i think 9/11 has caused us to feel hatred and bitterness towards each other instead.
where is the love?are we to blame?are we at fault for being so judgmental and critical of each other?are we to blame for these things that have happened?9/11?the war?innocent people losing their lives, all for the sake of defending our country?have we done something in which we choose not to stop doing?in my opinion,i say yes.we have done something.we've all taken part in something that has led to a lot of heartache.we've all been guilty for hurting our fellow humans.we've said and done things that really hurt other people.we've chosen to blatantly reject, and scorn those who dont meet our standards.
we scorn poor people.people with obesity.people who are handicapped.people with addiction.short people.skinny people.people who seem different.people from different races.different religions.different beliefs and lifestyles.i mean, its just constant.if we cant love each other, and respect each other despite our differences, instead of scorning each other because of them, then why try?why try to improve things?
i dont think things can improve.9/11 didnt make people love each other.people are treating each other worse than they did before 9/11.we're all filled with pride and stubborness and resentment.until we try to let go of those feelings, and live in peace with other people,we as a nation, have been forsaken.i think god will only be present,if theres love in this country.with love and forgiveness, maybe we all can heal-together.but without it,unfortunately, things will only get worse.

But then again God is less interested in the majority than in the remnant. Consider much of the Bible is about individuals and many books of the Bible are named after individuals.

The vocal minority always seems bigger and more powerful than the silent majority, but its not. When the chips are down, this is still a Christian country. 911 is proof of that.
