1 ) Are coconuts fruits ? = Yes coconuts are fruits of drupe type that develop on coconut tree.

2 ) How are they grown ? = They are grown from the fruits or the seeds that are inside . No other method developed so far .

Coconut is a tropical tree that is found in abundance and cultivated as a major crop in the tropical countries like India and Srelanka .

3 ) Are they nuts ? = No from the botanical point of view it is not a nut type of fruit . It is Drupe type of fruit . Due to the fibrous nature of its fruit wall it is called a 'Fibrous Drupe' .

But in no way it is a nut . Due to its hard inner shell it is called (albeit wrongly ) as nut . Fruits with hard walls are usually called nuts.

A coconut is a seed. The fruit is the outer pericarp (the stringy stuff that you have to remove to get to the coconut.)
