I absolutely believe that Riencarnation is the way that the soul evolves. I believe that the Human soul is exactly that and always has been, I don't think that we evolve or devolve between species.
EDIT: In response to the person above me, the "really bad at math" guy.... tell me, who ever said that all souls that are now in existence were all created at the same time, at the first moment of creation? Anyone who believes in reincarnation likely also believes in the existence of young souls and old souls. Also, who said that all souls now incarnating on Earth have always incarnated on Earth as opposed to other planets that are home to intelligent life?

I keep an open mind on the subject, and unlike many Aethiests and Christians I am not blinded by my own dogma or mantra of my views.
There certainly seems to be a mounting body of secondary evidence being amassed that shows there's a strong possibility that Reincarnation is an actual process. Work by he likes of Dr Ian Stevenson in the area over the past 30 or so years has reveled some interesting possibilities.
Granted the current evidence does not pass rigorous scientific peer review in all but one case, however the fact that the evidence is being collected in a far more scientific and rigorous method than many believe. I suspect that in time as technology evolves there will be superior answers to the question of reincarnation.
Of almost as much interest are Near Death Experiences, of which at least one fully refereed study has been published in a scientific journal, namely The Lancet, which is generally regarded as the world's foremost Medical Journal. Material simply does NOT get published there unless it has passed highly rigorous scrutiny and peer review prior to publication to ensure that the material is based on repeatable and established methodology.
You can read the actual paper at:

A precise definition? It often varies from person to person, because obviously we don't all believe the exact same things.
Here is reincarnation as I see it:
The purpose is to gradually teach someone more and more as they go through lives, experiencing different situations. As far as whether humans reincarnate into animals or vice versa... I've no idea. I'm content with not having an opinion on that. As someone goes through lives, they eventually get to their last life, and they no longer reincarnate, but come to rest forever, or if they choose they can come back and help people (many believe this was what Jesus did).
There's a really interesting section devoted to reincarnation in a book called "A Witches Bible" by Janet and Stewart Farrar, if you care to look for it. By far, it's the most simple but in-depth look into reincarnation.
And whoever said the thing about population... obviously like people, souls can be born (if you like biology... souls are like sperm... they just keep coming, there aren't a finite number like with eggs)

Reincarnation must remain a theory to me until I experience it, but because it is the only way I can conceive for all beings to be saved, I consider it. I know that it cannot be heaven, if anyone is missing. Eternal torment is a fooish concept, and therefore ungodly. Only humans could conceive it.

Reincarnation, human to human, and continuous. I believe your spirit will have to find a body, that would make you confortable, meaning it would have the capabilities your spirit craves. Also, one would like to have relationships, with people, one feels comfortable with. It becomes like a continuation of the spirit's journey, not some radical change.

Reincarnation is a Jewish belief. The proof of it is very involved. The word for it is gilgal which means cycle. It's even a part of our evening prayers.
The concept is that in each life, we kind of pick up where we left off in the previous life in working on perfecting our soul.
Whether it's true or not, the concept that my future is inextricably linked to what I do in this life has helped me avoid sin.

its possible but no one has any way of finding out and if our souls continue to live after death there's no telling where they'll end up
thre are other religions besides christianity. there's always the chance another religion is right. reincarnation is part of other religions besides christianity

i have allways had this belief or feeling that when we die we are born as ourselves again to live the same life, sometimes i think i will live the same life exactly the same, repeating the same things until i die again, then sometimes i think i might be born into the same life but i can live it another way. Sometimes i want to believe that i will be born again into another body and blah blah blah... Then i think that when we die our entire life flashes before our eyes, so it's like living all over again. Sometimes i believe in heaven, and others i believe i will die and become part of the earth.

There is no actual reincarnation of the human body, Ones the human body flesh will die, the spirit of that body will taken cared of by God and body flesh of human be burried or burn to return to dust. At the time of judgement, the spirit will be awaken by God to face judgement fromn God either to be send to heaven by God or be burn to the lake of fire in hell and in hell there is no everlasting life

"o comprehend reincarnation you want to settle for you at the prompt are not this body, yet a non everlasting resident." that is the position i ended studying. it really is an unsupported premise. that is like putting forward as a thanks to be a millionaire, you in basic terms favor to settle for that you've in basic terms received the lottery. Or as a thanks to be a theist, you in basic terms favor to settle for that a god exists. that's a round argument you're in basic terms putting forward as a thanks to achieve a particular end, in basic terms settle for it. Wow thanks Einstein. My question is WHY ought to I settle for it?
