No, not at all.
However, your point being well taken. The "religious" out there have spouted such non-sense, that it seems like the smart thing to do, is to be an atheist.
For instance. The religious go on and on regards hell, some burning, hot place where their loving god torments people forever (for just a few bad years here on earth). Seems most despicable.
However if someone was actually being taught by the scriptures (as opposed to religious dogma). Then one would be as realistic as say an atheist, perhaps even more so: Since the scriptures state:
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all. . .
So, a truly "religious" person would understand the obvious, that an atheist already knows, that when you are dead, you are done with, gone, non-existant.
However the religionists among us, have their dogma which says the dead are alive, and are living in bliss, or some horrible place.
So you must make a distinction between true religion, which understands things logically, or false religion, which is based on man-made dogma. (24 hour creative days, immortal souls, hellfire, 6000 year old earth, ad nauseum.)

I don't think that is necesarily true.
Many atheists don't believe in god because they don't think deeply about anything.
Atheists are happy to believe that everything happened by accident and so sometimes take what we have in life for granted.
People who believe in a creator often take the time to marvel at creation.
Do atheists see the world as it really is or as they want it to be?

Yes, you see the world and you like it, on the other hand, I am not part of the world, what I see I don't like, I am of God and his spirit is upon me and I think of spiritual things and dwell on God's promise of a new earth where righteouness will dwell. The world is passing away and so is it's desires, but he who does the will of God, remains forever. You can keep your world until it ends, I want no part of it.

I used to think so but when Jesus showed himself to be real to me, I realised that I had been decieved. It was like Neo from the Matrix waking up in the real world and finally seeing the lie he had believed.

I agree that the athiests see the world for what it is. They don't have any hope. There is no better tomorrow, same stuff different day. I am so glad that Jesus Christ brought me out of that hell and chaos. I now have a brighter tomorrow. No more bad days, and I can look forward to the day I die without fear and dread!

I could go along with that. In addition, I was a seaman for some years and traveled quite a bit. That makes a difference as well.

Not quite. The reason an atheist may see the world more clearly is that generally they tend to develop their cognative skills more and tend to be more objective than believers.

I think atheists are less gullible in just believing what they are told - they in turn, search out rational answers with logical thinking.
