I make a recipe like this, called Platz. It has a base cake on the bottom, a layer of the pie filling, and a lovely crumble top. I can't find my original recipe, but this one looks to be close. You can also try making half of your white cake mix, putting it on the bottom. Pour your fruit on top, and then mix the remaining cake mix with butter until it's crumbly, and sprinkle it on top. Hope this helps!! If it's not what you're looking for, try it anyway! It's incredible!!!

Platz
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
milk
fresh fruit, peeled and sliced, such as apples, peaches, apricots, plums, pitted cherries, or rhubarb (insert a personal blech!) or canned pie filling ( I love blueberry)

Topping:
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together. Cut in shortening. Slightly beat egg in a measuring cup. Add milk to make 1 cup. Add egg-milk mixture to flour mixture to make a soft dough (it will be sticky). Pat dough into 11x13" baking pan. Cover dough with your choice of fruit. To make crumb mixture, stir flour and sugar together, then cut in butter. Sprinkle on top of fruit. Bake at 425F for 45-60 minutes. Best served hot. Even better with vanilla ice cream!
