Know you are not going crazy, when I moved into a place with electric stove I had to adjust too. When you are baking it does seem to cook faster than gas. Reduce the cooking time not the temperature, where is you might have cooked that cake for 30 minutes cook it 25 minutes, also get a oven thermometer to make sure it is at the right cooking degree, some place replace knobs and the gages could be off.

The temperature may be higher. I suggest you get an oven thermometer. That will let you see what the temperature is. In addition, electric ovens can take longer than gas ovens to heat up, so you need to be sure the oven is up to temperature before baking a cake. Otherwise, the radiant heat from the element could burn the cake. (I appologize if you do this, but I thought I should mention it just in case.)

A electric stove is like a gas stove. Here's how you bake a cake with Electric. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Then when you hear the beep, place in both layers of the cake in and press the button that says Bake time. Bake time should be what they said on the cake box your using. Hope this helped

The temperature varies less in an electric oven. If you open the door you lose less heat. It's the same on the stove top too. It takes longer for temperature changes to take effect.

Get an oven thermometer and use that to set your oven temp.

No hard and fast rules; you will have to experiment.

I used a gas oven at 300 degrees for 90 mins to bake a certain type of cake. But that oven was fairly old and was replaced by a new one of the same type. You guessed it : same recipe, same time, same temperature - burned cake !!

Ovens are not all the same, they temps seem to be different on all of them.
Try going to 325 and bake something, but keep an eye on it. If the oven is still too hot go to 300.

the temp of the oven should be the same for gas or electric...my parents gas oven cooks at 25 degree less then what recipes call for. its has nothing to do with it being electric. when i moved into my apartment i had an electric oven and being used to gas i burnt the first couple things i cooked on the stovetop. it took some getting used to!

I think you have the right idea. I have to set my oven down by 50 degrees everytime I fix something. Try that and see how it works out.
