I have a sore on my groin which i believe was caused by shaving the area.

I normally use cheap old razors and i went and bought a really expensive gilette one and ta daaa! Just my luck. Never had one before...

I have heard of people getting ingrowing hairs from waxing but not shaving, but i don't know what else it can be.

It is like a hard lump under the skin about 1cm in diameter which went squishy on top like a blister and when i pierced it it oozed yellow liquid... enough to fill a teaspoon i imagine. Yummy.

Then i covered it in anti-septic cream and it seemed to go smaller.

However its still there and oozed some more goo yesterday, although much less, and then more anti-septic cream.

Now its just a hard red lump.

I've had it about 4 weeks.

Any suggestions?

I was going to say squeeze the b*stard! But then i read your question... It could be from a blocked sweat duct? I had it happen under my arm pit but it didn't go puss y, just solid and huge! Go to your doctor and get some antibiotics, that should clear it up nicely :)

This sounds like a boil. Get hold of some magnesium paste from the pharmacist and apply this on a dressing. It will draw out the infection to the surface and then the pus can be wiped away with hot water and the area cleaned. Antiseptic cream will help at this stage. If it does not clear up see your doctor

From your description it does sound as though you may have a Sebaceous Cyst, which is something to do with a sweat gland. These can appear at various places on your body, and can generally be treated quite easily with a course of antibiotics..

Whether or not that is actually what this is, you should not be relying on advice from non professionals, and you should not really be attempting to deal with it yourself. Go and see your doctor.

You could do yourself some harm.

What I do (and this is probably not the 100% safest thing) is lance spots (and similar) with a sharp surgial quality scalpel blade (available at craft shops) and clean out all the contents. I use tea tree oil to clear any infection remaining.
(The yellow goo is dead white blood cells by the way.)

get a wash rag and dampen it then put it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. then place it on the affected area. it should help bring what ever it is to a head. Check w/ your doctor if it doesnt start to clear up soon (withing a couple of days)

BE CAREFULL. My son had a graze on his arm when he was 16. It had loads of puss coming out. He was rushed into hospital soon after, and he had a life and death fight with meningitis c strain. luckily he survived, but we were told that the bacteria lived in this puss. The first thing they looked for was a puss filled wound. Dont mess about, go to your Doctor, and get it sorted. Look after yourself.

Bathe in salt water. It will eventually go. Next time you shave make sure the razor is properly sterilised with boiling hot water.

firstly take no notice of "golden" cos that answer is nothing short of witchcraft! ive had this and you are doing the rigt thing, but it wont hurt to go to your doctors and ask to see the nurse, when i had one i let it come to a head and it just burst and went by itself,i kept the anti septic cream going though.
