I already took him to the vet, and gave him some shots, but they were expensive and can't keep giving it to him every month (they cost about 30 dollars each)
He doesn't have fleas or anything, he's healthy in the inside.
His belly is naked, along with inside of legs and back of paw.
People have told me it could be stress, but there's nothing to stress him out, except maybe a cat that he plays with once in a while that my mom doesn't always allow inside my house. (The cat is my land lord's, and has been chewing his fur off too) Maybe they wanna play together but can't? And are stressed by it?
What could I do??

the shots are supposedly to calm him down.

my kitty is 3yrs old. and he only took one shot. He's not allergic to anything at home, because we haven't really done anything new. I already gave him a flea and mite bath (proper shampoo) and put a flea collar a while ago (like maybe 4months ago) and he doesn't go out.

I saw a cat that was up for adoption by the spca. It had licked all the fur from his body. He was completely furless except for where he couldn't reach. There was a sign on his cage that said he had OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and his previous owners didn't want to put him on prozac. I don't now how true the prozac part was.

You could try to put a cone on his neck, to stop the licking.

He still could have an skin infection. My cat had ringworm which is a fungus near his bottom. He licked all the fur off in that area. It cleared up and he stopped.

Maybe you could ask you vet if there anything that tastes bad and won't harm your cat that you could rub on him. Then he might not lick the bad taste.

I think the cat actually had steroid shots, a pretty standard temporary treatment for itching. This would have been to calm the ITCHING down, not the cat!

Fairly likely your cat does has fleas, or allergies. It could be hormonal, but unlikely if it responded to the shots. Afraid you need to get back to the vet if you actually want a long term solution this problem, because you won't find it on here!

It's obviously some sort of contageon and your vet should be told about the landlord's cat's condition. It's not a coincidence that it's on both of their bellies and they are suffering the same symptoms.

You might want to try another vet, sort of like getting a second opinion. It sounds like kitty doesn't need the steroid shots, which is most likely what your vet is giving him. I think he needs an anti-fungal shampoo!

He could have a allergy to somthing in your house do you put carpet freshener down? or any thing like that? you might wanna ask his vet if there are any medical conditions thats would cause hair loss. Cushing's is one that comes to mind.
How old is she, Has she been on steriods for a long time?

Have your vet check for mange mites or lice. They live under the skin and when they hatch out it causes the animal to scratch resulting in hair loss. Also check for lice which will have the same affect. If it is mange, its really contagious so beware, and wash your hands alot. I wouldnt allow him to have contact with the other cat either..Good Luck!!

What your cat is doing is referred to as "barbering". It's a nervous condition, mine does it too. I have her on amitriptaline (5 mg every other day). It's about $12.00 a month, and she's not biting the fur off anymore! Good luck.
