What to reply to somebody that just emailed you saying that the doctors found a new possible tumor. She already had gone thru Kimo therapy like ~1 moth ago.

And I forget to mention she lives in Arizona and I live in California so we don't see each other much at all. It's just basically by myspace and maybe text. But she's been a good host to us when we do go down there.

If they are writing you, write them back and let them know how sorry you are that they are going through so much. If you are in a position to visit them, call and see if you can. Let her vent and hold her hand, give her a hug. Just be friends.

My wife had a brain tumor. There is nothing you can really say.
Just be there for them. If you are inclined, pray for your friend.
As for a reply, I would personally call, but in any way you do reply, just be supportive and positive. With all the advances in cancer, there is no cause for immediate panic. Being positive is the best thing they can do, or receive from anyone.

Write to her and keep in touch how things are going. Send her a card with cheerful thoughts and let her know you are there in any way. Just listening to a person and reassuring is the best medicine you can give.

There is no need to console. Offer your support, be there, do things to take their mind off of it, watch the kids, take them to a movie or out to dinner. Most importatnt, just be there.

As a survivor I can tell you that just being there and listening is so important. Cancer is a very lonely place.

and one more thing: laughter is the best medicine, so don't forget to cut loose once in awhile with your friend, at the appropriate times. '
