My question is when an illegal immigrant is caught by the proper authorities and brought to holding units prior to being sent back to their country of origin why are they not given the option to fill out the proper paper work to get them a work visa and the start the paper work to become a naturalized citizen?

It has been reported that illegal immigration has caused many problems in the United States, decrease in wages, lowered standard of living, and higher crime rates.

This seems to be common sense. This would allow the “future” citizen to pay taxes and have the same rights as all Americans. Fines for entering the country illegally could be attached to the “future” citizens taxes.

Let me add to this. I am not talking about illegal aliens that are caught at the border. I am talking about the estimated 11 million Illegals that are already living in this country and have been here for years.

So you want us to tell people they can come to America and do what they want and if they get caught we'll just make them a citizen? And you think that is common sense?

People who break the law should be apprehended without thinking about the economy or separation of families. Doing the right thing and upholding law and order is above that. Besides deporting illegals will only help the economy by reducing unemployment and save government resources now wasted on supporting illegals' education, health care and other benefits. Families are not separated by deportation. That is a myth. Families can always reunite in their home countries. On (d) - I agree. After paying fines and taxes they can go to their home countries and apply for temporary work visas like anyone else. I really don't see why past history of consciously breaking the immigration law should entitle them to preferential treatment.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??????????????????????????
Why would you give a CRIMINAL a chance to fill out papers?
They are NOT future citizens they are ILLEGALS regardless of what race they are and THEY DON'T ALL COME HERE TO WORK!!!!
A better idea would be to ALLOW more people to come here LEGALLY in the first place and kick ALL the illegals out!
I have a hard time believing you think we should chase people down so we can get them to fill out job applications and visa forms!!!!
They should have filled out those forms at the border .
I don't have a problem with giving them fines BEFORE WE DEPORT THEM!!
But the way to solve people SNEAKINGinto our country is NOT inviting them to stay!

Interesting way to look at the problem, but you are incorrect in your logic. There are law set up that allow people from other countries to enter the U.S. legally. We need to uphold these laws.

Ideas like this and the recent "Lets give them all drivers license" idea that politicians tried to introduce in New York most recently don't work becuase then our laws fail for the ones that do live by them. You can't make exceptions. There are no quick solutions.

There is a long process involved in getting a visa. He'd either be sitting in 'holding' a very long time, or he'd be getting preferencial treatment relative to those following the normal legal process.

If the latter, it would encourage even those willing to enter legally to come illegally, instead, since all they have to do is step over the border or overstay thier visa one day, and they get thier paperwork expidited.

Maybe they should give them copies of blank forms as they are being put on bus/airplane/boat back to where they came from. It would serve to reinforce what they should have done the first time.

I, however, question ever allowing someone who has been caught ever being allowed back into the country. It would seem to motive illegal aliens to go home before they get caught.

because that is not the way it works? We have laws and procedures. You can't go from a illegal staus to a legal one until you correct the illegal status, and that involves leaving the country and doing it the RIGHT way, just like millions of others have. I still do not fully understand what this new breed of "immigrant" thinks entitles them to just bypass all the rules and then cry foul when things do not go their way.

Because he entered the country illegally.
He shouldn't be rewarded PERIOD!
He should get in back of the line BEHIND the people who are coming into the country LEGALLY!

No matter how long they have been living here, they are here illegally and have been committing numerous felonies in order to stay illegally employed in this country.

The only legal procedure is to deport them.

They have already broken the law. To do anything other than enforce the punishment associated with the law they broke is called amnesty. If a bank robber is caught robbing a bank he's not given a withdrawal form to fill out in order to get the money he was after.
