It's a good problem to have, I know. But it is a tough one. What's the best bike to buy that'll do everything from XC 'racing' (by this I mean finishing in the middle on a good day) and ripping around the forest with wheels mostly on the ground. My priority is a good climber - I need all the help I can get!

I've been thinking about an Epithany, 08 Yeti 575, IBIS, or a Turner Spot.

Budget is to around USD $7-8k.

I live/work in Moab, Utah. I work for a bike shop that rents bikes (one of which is the Santa Cruz Blur LT). I have had a Santa Cruz Heckler for a REALLY long time...it's been my favorite. However, in recent years, Santa Cruz has come out with the Blur LT (long travel), and it is an AWESOME bike. Really. This is one to look into, for sure! It's light enough to make it race-efficient, but it has enough travel to do more rugged riding, and it's a shoe-in for a lot of FUN!!!

Hum...

I have a Turner 5-Spot and really love it. It has a plush suspension for comfort on epic rides and I have managed to place on it in several XC races this year. The 5-Spot has a pretty long wheelbase to smooth out rough trails. It is not super light, but if you pay attention to your component selection, you can keep the weight very reasonable.

One of my buddies has an Intense 5.5 that I've gotten to ride a fair bit. It too, is a very comfortable, go anywhere bike. Again, the 5.5 isn't the lightest, but you can build it up into a very respectable XC bike if you select components carefully. Interestingly, to me at least, Turner and Intense use completely different suspension technologies, but still make wonderful, very ridable bikes.

These bikes, along with the ones you mention are all great machines. So, my suggestion is to try all of them out. The one you love the most is the one you should get.

Also consider Titus Moto Lite, Pivot Mach 5 (new brand), Ventana X-5 or similar.

On Ventana and on the exogrid or titanium Moto Lite, you could ask for a custom fit (meaning that you could change the lenght of the top tube or something similar. Not that you need to, but at that budget it could be worth a try.

actual i do not imagine you receives a lot of an xc motorcycle in case your going to be racing it for $750 yet look at great, speacialized, trek and flow all the way down to ur interior of sight motorcycle shop and have a glance on the motorcycles ask for a holiday and if its too severe priced search for an similar motorcycle on ebay or something. also related to complete suspension or hardtail, i holiday an complete sus motorcycle and locate it difficult pedaling up hills now and again, so in difficulty-free words get an complete suspension motorcycle in case you extremely choose it or if it has lockout mode.
