ok I want to get a kitten for my step mom for christmas. I was going to adopt it from a humane sociaty. and what I want to do is put it in a cute little box that would look like she's getting a present and now a animal. So the question is....do any of you guys know how to make a christmass box that would look like a normal christmas present and that i safe for the cat?

I already know that she wants a kitten because my barn cat had 6 babies and she wanted one but they all died (something got them) the day before I was going to let her pick the one she liked best. I've asked my dad if it was ok that I get her one and he said yes...so I know that she wants one.

and if she really doesnt want it then I can name 5 people right off the bat that would want it. And I would never send a kitten back to a animal shelter because yes I am a teen and I work at a horse rescue.

you could get the cat the same day or a day before and keep it at a relatives house or youro room and when its time put it in the box and give it to her.

I would ask her first, i know you want it to be a surprise but she may not even want a cat! She may have said she wants a cat but she may not be ready for one just yet, xmas is a busy time, not a suitable time for trying to get a kitten used to everything and kitten proofing a house!
Talk to her, if she says yes, you can still pay for the kitten and put it in a plastic pet carrier box but please ask her first.
I work at an animal shelter and they have a very high return rate for dogs and cats after xmas, so much so that they are VERY strict about rehoming animals around november/december time. Its not fair on the poor animals getting shoved from home to home, they don't understand!
And im presuming ur still a kid/teen, an animal shelter is not just gonna hand over a kitten to you without an adult there, your step mom could go with you and she can choose the kitten after all its the pet that chooses the owner not the other way around!
Sorry for ranting but pets as xmas presents is a subject i am very strongely against. Good on you though for thinking of the humane society!
And finally ASK HER FIRST PLEASE for both yours, your step moms and the future kittens sake!!!
EDIT: You still should bring her to the shelter to pick her own kitten, one might just catch her eye and she'l instantely fall in love with it!! And it means that the kitten wont be stuck in a shoebox for a few hours before you give it to her!!
EDIT: Ok alright im not judging you because I don't know you, its just I have seen so many kittens and puppies being returned to shelters because they were given as gifts!
PS: I love horses too!!! But the shelter im with deals mostly with cats and dogs and the odd donkey, they had a goose once aswel!!!

The humane society doesn't like to hear that the cats will be given as gifts, too many of them AREN'T appreciated and are brought back after the holidays.
Can you put a picture of a kitten in the box, and when she opens it say you want to take her to the humane society and have her pick out one she really likes. This way you KNOW she wants the pet, you can use this as a thing to do something with your stepmom with, and no cats get adopted and given away because they're not wanted.
Giving pets for the holidays isn't a good idea. But giving the option of having a pet if they want one, that's much more reasonable.

I like that idea, and based on past discussions you'll make a great godmother to your step-mom's kitty. :-)
As a cat owner for almost 40 years though, I promise you kitties are contrary. it'll find a way to ruin the surprise, if it has to chew through the box so it can waddle up to you and say "that was fun, what are we doing now?"
Idea. A box with a map in it, leading to where kitty is waiting.

The Humane Society has strict rules against adopting out pets for presents. Take her to pick one out and you pay for it. Hope you make Christmas very special for a needy kitty!

get a normal Christmas box and poke holes on the side that will be facing the Christmas tree (WILE THE CAT IS NOT IN THERE) and put blankets in there but it would be better if the cat is sleeping so it does not move around and make noises
