If the dog is going through the door....you need to make sure it is better secured. Keep a leash next to the door and make sure the dog is secure before you open the door. That way if the dog tries to bolt, you will be in control of your dog. Teach your dog to "sit and stay" each time the door is open. Labs are smart dogs and it won't take long for your dog to realize you mean business.

Pick a mark about six feet away from your front door and make your dog sit there every time you go to the door. Correct the dog every time she crosses that mark. You should do this every time someone comes to your door, as well. Make sure the entire family does the same thing.
I would also suggest a screen door on your front door. It is much more difficult for a dog to bolt through a double door.

Your dog needs to be taught that he isn't aloud to go out any door that leads outside without your permission. I would start by making him sit with a leash on while you open the door. Make him stay there and reward him when he does. Then close the door and repeat process. When he does this without moving, take the leash off, and continue doing it. Make sure you reward him when he does what he is told. Eventually he will automatically sit in front of the door and wait until you say it's ok before going out!

Put her on a lead or leash and I call it the Jazzy line for my dog and I made a line with chalk so she knows it is there and whenever she goes past the line pull her back and say NO! It worked for me you might need 2 people if you are working to train it for the front door we made it the gate. Train with her this for at least 10 to 20 mins a day and she will get smarter and know not to unless you tell her to. You can awarded her with treats I like doing this with petting her so she knows she will get attention if she doesn't get out.

you need to train the dog with a leash...or keep him on one..mine used to do it when he caught a smell of a possum, and I know once they are going they are gone...I trained mine with a leash...and we have stairs as well...so what I do now, and he only does it for me...so he still needs work...as I was saying is I open the door and I go out first and stand on the side of the stairs so he can't bolt out and say back (backyard) and go potty or whatever you are doing with him at that time..and then when we come back in he could bolt anytime but I say up and he goes up...now with my son and husband he tends to leap all stairs and out in the street he goes...so they have to use the leash period...dogs are stubborn, you just need to stay firm and teach him not to bolt..it will happen just be patient and then of course reward him...I have got it to where he jumps on the door to get in and that is what you want as well...

as properly to truly some the coolest solutions you have already gained, you could attempt this in case you have railings on the two facets of your hunch. bypass on your community residing house center and purchase a large THICK piece of sparkling plexiglass. Slide it between the railings so as that it thoroughly blocks your hunch. Open the door and viola! Your canine will run smack into it and practice himself.

I have a shar pei/lab mix and he runs out when we go to leave for work....what worked for us was we tell him to sit and then taught him stay and that holds him at least long enough for us to leave. I completely understand because my dog is easily distracted. We haven't figured out how to keep him from running out when someone comes in though.....if they know my dog they just keep him in, but....if someone has never been to our house he bolts.

Keep the door shut and put a leash on the dog when the door opens. sorry, it sounds obvious, but it is the only safe method.
