Drinking water only relieves the spice temporarily for me. Are there any other remedies?

The hot sensation is caused by an oil, so drinking water actually spreads it around and makes things "hotter". Milk, bread, tortilla, or rice, should all help.

Drink milk, water makes it worse. Milk has a protein that counteracts the effects of the spice from hot peppers.

You can usually cut the spiciness with something dairy based - like a glass of milk or ice-cream. Usually fixes it right away.

Milk, ice cream or squirt some whipped cream into your mouth. Sour cream will work too!

Indian cuisine always provides yoghurt to cut the heat of the curries ..... sometimes yoghurt mixed with fresh vegetables like cucumber and mint...

If your old enough drink a few sips of beer...and eat a slice of bread. If it's doing that to your mouth imagine what's it's doing to your stomach and then what comes out has got to hurt also.....OOOUUUUUCCCHHHH!!!!
