My cousin in a professional singer (he's been on the Soprano's, CSI, a few other game shows, and he does concerts in Vegas). He sang to his bride at their wedding, but he's a professional, so it was good singing, but a little cheesy. HIs wife sat at a chair in the middle of the room and he just sang/strolled around her. Do you think it's cheesy when someone sings to their spouse at the wedding reception?

oook so I *won't* be singing to my guy at our wedding:) I had a moment of insanity when I heard Alicia Keys "No One" on the radio today...But I guess from a guests point of view, it's uncomfortable...

Yeah it's cheesy! However, the bride and groom are singing to each other and it is their day. Since it is about them, they can do what they want.

My father is a professional musician and I have been a music minister and wedding vocalist for many years and I agree that is so cheesy!
I didn't sing at my wedding and neither did my father. Friends of mine also church musicians, have no sung at their own weddings either.
My view is, your friends and family lready know you can sing why show off at your wedding, you're already in the spotlight. Then again I am not a prima dona and tend to be a bit more humble.
Some people love the spotlight, as long as the bride and groom were happy that is all that matters.

No not all all.
I sang to my husband a very speical song at our wedding 14 years ago and everyone loved it.
I have also sang for friends weddings and I sang for my sisters wedding which I was the matron of honor.
So long as you are singing from your heart to bless someone and not make the focus all about you or make the singing like a show there is nothing wrong with it.

I do not think its cheesy at all. If the person is a good singer (not like drunk at a karaoke verison of a singer) and can do it without getting too emotional than go for it! If I wasn't afied of being too emotional I would sing in my wedding. Instead I'm having my two best friends sing.

I think it's romantic an beautiful for the two getting married, however unless they are a great singer it may look cheesy to the guests. I would suggest waiting for the honeymoon and if it's something that the bride or groom would like to do, do it in private.

YES! I was at a wedding where the bride sang to the groom. She was an ok singer for karaoke night, but watching it at her wedding was really uncomfortable.

It can be, especially if they don't sing well.
Then again, I played violin at my wedding, and my dad sang, but he's a lot of fun and can sing fun songs. Also, it seems that after a few glasses of rum (or vodka, or whatever else), the standards of what's cheesy and what's not are lowered significantly. If I was to sing, I would definitely wait until everyone (myself included) has partaken of their libations.

Yes, it sounds cheesy to me... But aren't all weddings cheesy in some way. Like the wedding waltz = cheezy, the best man/maid of honor speeches = cheesy, and smooshing cake into each other's faces = WAY cheesy! Weddings are supposed to be cheesy... wonderfully, amazingly cheesy.

I think it really all depends on HOW it's done. If it's a really showy performance with over-the-top vocals and hand gestures...more like they're performing for the guests and not the bride or groom...then, yes, it's pure CHEESE.
However, if it's restrained and heartfelt (and we all can tell the difference) with the singer looking only directly at his or her new spouse, then it's romantic.
