I have a male golden retriever that we call Sandy. His full name is Sandrew Tod. Sandrew being long for Sandy and Tod is Tail of Destruction. When he is inside and gets excited his tail can clear a table in no time.

My dog's name is Judge. His name was from the shelter (I could never come up with anything that good!) and I thought it was a great name and it suited him. So it stuck. Now whenever we need some help on an argument, we call in the dog.

My answer should be good for a laugh. It's a bit embarrassingly revealing of my geekiness.
My puppy's name is Misha. Misha is a character in the online multiplayer game World of Warcraft - a bear pet of an NPC who was famous for roaming the land and killing blithely unaware players of the opposite faction.
Anyway, I met my boyfriend through this game, and when we (several years later) got Misha together, we gave her that name to remind us of our highly unusual method of introduction.

I had three children, and none could agree on a name, so we kept the breeder's name for the puppy...and added our own little twist. She had named him Maxwell, and we changed it to: Agent 86 Maxwell Smart!
The good thing about this name is that when he does something kind of dumb, my kids all go, "Maxwell NOT SO Smart!"

Jemma. I couldn't think of a name for her, and then was making a folder for her on my computer, looking at pictures, and *pop* Jem came to mind! I went on a baby site after that and chose "Jemma" based on Jem. (I like names that provide the opportunity for lots of nicknames and I also wanted something feminine and unusual.)
