First off, the Ruger 10/22 and Remington 597 are semi-automatic rifles---they don't come in bolt or lever action in those models. Between the two, the 10/22 is the better rifle and much easier to breakdown and clean. As far as semi-automatic, lever or bolt action.....bolt action rifles will be the most accurate. Bolt actions come in single shot or magazine fed. Semi-autos come magazine fed. Most lever actions are tube fed (where there is a tube under the barrel that is filled with the cartridges).

Are you sure it is a Springfield 22 caliber "Lever Action" single shot rifle ? Model number ?

The only single shot 22 lever action rifle I know of was an Older Ithica Model 49 Saddle Gun... Single Shot Lever Action (Martini action) from the early 70's......

I wonder if they are thinking of the Single Shot Stevens Favorite which operates by a lever to drop the block. We have one and it has gone through approx. 700 Hunter Safety students and is still working fine. Nice little plinkers for the young ones. I don't remember what we paid for it but it seems like it was around $200 new. Savage is still making them but they are probably made in Italy. The old ones run about that price too, used.

Never heard of a .22 lever action springfield.
If you're not mistaken, it's a rare bird indeed.
(You're mistaken).
