My dominant female always slept on a big cushion bed in the corner. I had to move the bed and now someone is peeing on it. I washed the cover and put it back and somebody (I have 5 cats) just peed it again! My cats have NEVER peed anywhere but the litter box. What could be the problem here? Could somebody be marking it since it's in new place in order to claim it?

It's a big cat bed, not a human bed!

well look at the facts. you know that the only possible culprit is cat, and that whoever is dong it is pissed off about something. if it takes it's anger out on the bed, then obviously the cat has a problem with the bed. when you move something, a cat gets very mad. i would suggest not allowing your cat in your room for many months and then letting them back in and see if the pee on your bed. if you want to find out which cat is doing it, then clean up the bed. then take four of the cats out of the room and leave one in. after a day passes, take that cat out and replace it with another. do this until you see a pee spot on the bed. then you will know which cat is doing it because it was the only one in the room at the time. make sure to leav food and water in the room. hop i helped.

cats hate change. i would not be surprised if one of them is peeing out of the box because they are mad of the change. I five cats myself, do you have enough litter boxes for all of them? I have five boxes total and i keep them very clean. it is either the change of the bed, or the litter boxes or maybe a urinary tract infection. if i was you take the dominant female to your local vet get her checked out and have them check a urine sample to see if there is anything that is going on. if no infection is in the urine i am sure there are a behavior problem going on and they can tell you what to do.

you could try to put a litter box where the bed use to be and see if it works.

the reason to check a urine sample is that if they have an infection they will sometimes not use there litter box.

Thats dogs and r u talking about cats? because it may be a disorder so if it continues plz see a vet befor all of them start. also i sugest saveing up for a night vision camra and poniting it at the bed, mimic ur body in bed by taking chothes and filling them with pillows then sit in a defernt room watching the feed through a tv and then when it happens bust em' and punish then see a vet.

I noticed with cat urine that it is almost impossible to get the odor out. (Fixed cats, too!) I have a female that does this, too. She will pee anywhere that there is a pee odor..new or old. You might try those odor-removers (like Nature's Miracle) and see if you can wipe all traces of the original smell out.

If it persists, protect the bed. Get a tarp or plastic shower curtain and lay it over the top so they can't damage the mattress.

I think it could be because they don't like the change. Maybe that was their spot before you put that bed there. Or it could be somebody marking their spot.

Thank you for this question. I have two pregnant female basilisks ( Joan and Ellen de Basilisk) I will not move any of their furnishings at this delicate time lest they become dreadfully upset.
Thanks again,
Rose P.
