I don't have money myself, but often think I could do something, anything to help. As a family, we often give bags full of good stuff to charity shops who then sell them on at inflated prices and I never know what happens to anything. I'd rather give it directly or at least be able to contribute in some way. Selective links only please. This is a serious enquiry. Thanks

Yes, thank you, I think some are missing the point with respect. I'm not a teenager and have helped with school fundraising - this is a little different and in a society that is sooo hugely subsidised, but discriminately it's difficult to know how to really help.

MR ANGRY.....quite impressed, you're my kind of man ( I think). I was brought up in a third world country and understand poverty as much as a person can who is not actually in it. I am not myself wealthy, but see the strain on people who have had no solid support in their lives. I do thank you for your warnings and heed them. I am quite at sea as to what to do, but to do nothing seems wrong. OH, please don't be angry.......anger is scary and unproductive.

You can make a difference for children. I urge you to create a non profit organization. I do not know what department in the UK would be in charge of it. But I would start by getting family members involved. By raising funds, ofering baking sales, or making and prepare dinner and sell them for the fund. Do that often as time allows . Put the money that s been raised into a account. so that it will get interest.
Than find out about 501 non profit organizations in the U.K. Tell Queen Elizabeth or Prince Charles who is sponsoring organizations that help poor young people in the U.K. Tell him/her what your plan are. I bet you will get a response.

Oh !! be careful now. Anything altruistic toward marginalised people in britain will draw you well under the spotlight !! Try befriending asylum seekers and treating them as human beings and you'll be CRB checked and grilled by home office a r s e s as to why any such act would be considered.
Also note that the many so called Charity Shops which adorn your uk high streets are ran as huge franchised businesses, profiteering and using unpaid staff selling given goods = 100% capitalism. And capitalism is SLAVERY RETURNED in less than 200 years ! It is great that you care but you will be looked upon as odd being somebody, for example, giving one to one TLC to homeless or such like in screwed up britain today. Still, do not be put off by this sick society and just do all you feel you can and a bit more. There are absolutely hundreds of very lonely frightened sad traumatised asylum seekers and refugees who have lost their families when fleeing for their lives to britain, holed up in grubby run down OVERCROWDED FIRE SAFETY RISK FORMER HOTEL ROOMS who benefit greatly just by having company, friendship and supportive love and guidance. Accompanying them to shops, libraries appointments for their health etc. or just visiting them is a huge help. I am probably listed on all sorts of mad files, data bases and records and frowned upon for openly befriending asylum seekers but I couldnt give a damn. In uk you now exist in a self destroyed twisted and fear ridden hole which has evolved from some of the most hypocritical and ill bred beings on the planet. Keep up the good work and best of luck. And !! If a clip board holder stops you in the street asking for bank details with a load of dross about Children Society or Aged Care Charity etc. tell them to go to hell !!
Where does the 28% deed of covenant tax fiddle go to for example...INVESTMENT PROPERTIES ? !!! E.G. DUMP HOTELS for asylum seekers and refugees.

Start a family help centre - give ideas for having fun as a family, parenting skills, arts and crafts, days out, how to cook cheap family meals etc. Here in Devon we have Home Start - they may be able to give you more ideas. I think it's wonderful that you are happy to give your time up to help these kids. Good luck!

Volunteer some of your time for a charity or something like that, I'm sure there are some that work in the capital.
