You don't. Unless you go to New Jersey.

Seriously.

Rents start at $2000 a month for what is little more than a glorified walk-in closet.

shifting to NYC to flee some thing isn't a clever theory. There are way too many techniques for a youthful woman to get into difficulty. NYC ain't Virginia. in the previous you bypass you desire 2 issues: (a million) a pair or 3 thousand money nest egg to stay to tell the tale till you will get a activity & get issues at the same time (or interior the alternative the equivalent in parental help -- which it appears that evidently such as you haven't any longer have been given.) and (2) A roommate whom you recognize & have confidence to stay with: that is going to likely be tremendously much impossible so which you would be able to earn sufficient to pay for even a studio once you first initiate out if all you have is a severe college degree. you do no longer say what your modeling adventure is, yet you would be competing with women who've adventure, portfolios, and those varieties of help ranges which will enable them to make auditions & call backs & take classes at the same time as you are able to properly be waiting on tables to pay the hire.

Spend some time surfing newyork.craigslist.org. You will get a sense of where places are cheap. Then you will need to do more research to see if any of those apts./nbhds are actually places you would want to live.

What's cheap for me might not be cheap for you. Besides, you have to factor in
* how to get to work
* is the area safe for yourself and future family
* what you can budget for rent/utilities

and other things like that.
