BOTH 1 AND 2 ARE CORRECT... PLUS IT WILL TASTE AWFUL!!!

It tends to look dried out and paler than fresher meat and as the poster above said, may have ice crystals on it.

Freezer burn definitely affects the taste and texture even if it won't hurt you to eat it.

It will probably have ice crystals on it, and probably be gray colored.
While it won't hurt you to eat it, it might affect the taste, so cut off that portion if possible.
