OK so my hubby (great man) came home with a bottle of Irish Wiskey for me and my son is picking me up some whip cream. How much sugar and wiskey does one normally put into the coffee?

OK so I made it and drank it .......Yum!
I put in about 2 shots of Jamesons
Around a teaspoon of raw sugar
Added my hot yummy blue mountain coffee
and topped it off with some
Soy whipped cream
I ended up adding more coffee because it was quite strong
very good!
Now I am enjoying some bailey's irish cream over ice.
I really needed to adjust my mood tonight can you tell?!

The measurements would vary upon your taste and the size of your glass. If you're talking about a home bar you probably won't have the standard glassware that a bar would use. However, I would start with the standard measurements and then add to that as your taste requires.

1 shot (1.5 oz) irish whiskey (3 tablespoons)
1 teaspoon of sugar
hot coffee
whipped cream to taste

When I am making these at the bar, I always warm my glass before I put the whiskey and coffee in. This keeps the cold glass from sucking any heat out of the coffee and causing a patron to send it back to me because "it's cold". Depending on the size of your mug you may use more or less whiskey and more or less sugar.

Yummy...have fun!

one ounce of whiskey to 7 ounces of coffee is traditional... alot of bartenders tend to use a 1/2 ounce of baileys or other Irish cream product with the traditional whiskey also. and just A dollop of cream because it doesn't mix well with the alcohol

I like to just put about 3/4 cup of black coffee and top it off with Baily's, or just pour Baily's over ice in a glass.
