Of course, it happens. I met my husband on line (now my ex-husband). I have met many people who were seriously looking for a relationship. That's what on line dating is for. I have to say though, that some sites cater to those who are looking for a cheap date more then others. Shop around and try different sites. My favorite so far has been match.com
Also, the quality of people contacting you will depend on what you write in your profile. My dating profile is written so that it filters out the losers before they even hit the button to contact me. Be honest at what you are looking for. You are looking for quality, and not just anyone. You have to be assertive and express that in your profile.

I've been dating my online bf for 3 months now, about. The only way you can online date is if you really feel for the person you're online dating. Just make sure you know EVERYTHING about them before you start dating him. There are some dangerous people and liars, don't do online dating if you think it constitutes a risk towards you. If you need the real thing, then get the real thing. It can't be that hard. I've done real life and online dating. They're both the same. Just be sure of yourself before you do anything.

Ive been dating a guy I met online for 2wks now and we are pretty much inseperable. Weird and fast but it feels true. We havent had sex or anything so we like how we respect each other. I was looking for about a month or so until I met him. Be patient and see what happens. I know Ive flaked out on a lot of guys until I told myself that I was wasting my time getting to know them before I met them.

It really daes work, my boyfriend and I have dated for 3 months now. I met him on interracialmatch.com,. and at first I have the same doute with you, but after chatting with him for 2 weeks online, I believe him and I think he is a good guy. So try to find your love online, it is workable.

hey what's up, cute name. ok, now to your question. yes there are people who really go online to see if they can find someone interesting to go out with on a date. but if you want to have the real thing then i would suggest to you to go out with some friends on a friday night & go dancing or out for dinner & then out to a night club so you can meet some real people. then it's up to you to go from there. i'm sure that you will meet someone out there. most of the time you meet someone when u aren't looking. so that's my advise to you. good luck, nobrethequeen

You have to be careful when meeting people from the internet.
There are a lot of creeps out there so doing things on the computer is a lot safer than meeting them in person.
