We are not a Nation of Immigrants, we are a nation with a diverse genetic heritage due to past immigration, and a tradition of welcoming immigration, but the vast majority of American Citizens, are natural-born American Citizens, not immigrants.
The idea that the son or great-great-great grandson of an immigrant is, himself, an immigrant, is just another form of racism. It doesn't necisarily single out an arbitrary race, but it does judge individuals by thier ancestry, rather than thier actions or merits, and that is no different.

We are a nation that was founded by Americans. A lot of families were Pilgrims or settlers who came here long before there was an America so they fought for freedom and won! So we are by definition Americans!
And Americans have always accepted legal immigrants who in turn became Americans as well. We are as indiginous as any other humans that have lived here as none of us were here naturally and that includes American Indians.

Many illegal aliens believe we anglo immigrants came to america and walked right into the malls and grocery stores and started shopping and do not have a clue of the hardship the pilgrims endured to build this country. It should be mandatory that all immigrants read American history before being allowed to set foot in the USA.

We are a nation of immigrants dreams. We where found by immigrants and the ideas of freedom. Your great - grandpa, grandpa, even your father could be an immigrant so don't be a shamed of the word ( immigrant ). We maybe all Americans but have different heritages. America has only been around for over 200 year other countries for thousands. That why our heritage leads us away from America. When someone says We are a nation of immigrants say " no, we are a nation of immigrants dreams". then say " I am proud of my immigrant heritage and proud to be their dream."

You are of German ancestry, your heritage is American. We are a country that was built by immigrants, if you want to call it that, or a country that was built by settlers. When the English first came here, as well as the Germans, there was no specific law of who was legal or not legal. That came later. But our later ancestors came here legally, and that is what counts. Those born here have ancestry born in another country, but we are immigrants no longer.

You can answer your own questions. Look around your neighbor hood and see how many people there are immigratns. In fact, no.
The first groups that came were immigrations. Those were folks that crossed the Bering Straights, or were blown in from Africa by a hurricane. Sometimes, blown in from the Pacific on a Cyclone. Some came by boat from Europe When they had children, those first children became citizens.
When it started, this country did need immigrants. We don't need immigrants now and in fact what we need is the ability to produce more food, and the ability to take water from the oceans and transport it inland and supply water to folks where water is not abundent.
We do NOT need more people. We very badly need fewer people, and we need to take care of our country.
A good link on the matter.

Not immigrants:settlers. Originally, (16th C) people from a civilised land who brought fully-formed ideas of individual freedom under the rule of fixed laws to an apparently open continent.
In 19th C, immigrants to USA wanted to share the enshrined values of the land they sailed to.
Today, some immigrants want to overthrow the established system of balanced and protected rights that the earlier immigrants were happy to melt themselves into.
