I'm going to punch more holes in your accusations.......

Not only have there been black drivers, but there have also been other black owners, other than Brad Dougherty in Busch.

Wendell Scott owned another car (other than his own car) that was driven by Earl Brooks in 1962, '63, and '64. Earl Brooks was WHITE. Imagine that........a WHITE driver driving for a BLACK owner!! Gee, that's aweful racist isn't it?

Black drivers:
Wendell Scott
Willy T Ribbs (first black to test a Formula 1 car in addition to his road racing success)
Bill Lester
Marc Davis (ARCA)

Black Owners:
Wendell Scott
Bill Lester (NCTS)
Brad Dougherty (NBS)

Black Crew Members:
Chris Justice (NCTS)
Calvin Gravely (NCTS)
Mike Harris (NCTS)

Shall I go on????

OH, BTW, I have a pretty good freind from Tennessee who is an awesome off road racer, a promoter of racing in the Nashville area, and owns a racing parts shop. Oh yeah, he's black too.

The doors are open.. Keep your eyes on the upcoming talent and you will notice NASCAR isn't keepin' them out of the sport. When there is not a large african-american following in this sport.. How do you expect an african-american to become an ELITE Top-Tier driver? It's a percentage thing..

Watch for Chase Austin.. He's moving up in the stock market!
I hate that he's w/ RWI though.

I usually see you causing trouble in the Football Section veggie.. Good to know that you are diverse unlike most of those fools..

I think the door was opened a long time ago. Remember Ribbs ? He should of been good enough for Nascar. Where are the black drivers that are coming up like the rest of the guys do or do you think it should just be given to them so we have a black driver.I think they are more than welcome, as long as they earn the right like the rest of the drivers.Same for women drivers.

There is a black driver in ARCA who is doing pretty good. think his last name is Davis, I saw him in a couple races on TV. ..Nascar has open doors, come on..Theres some black pit crew guys.. Nascar has had black drivers in the past.. I remember watching Wendell Scott back in the 60/70's, he just never had the best equipment, if he would have been in a great ride, might have seen some big wins..If you know any up and coming black guys who want to race, tell them to get out there, hit the local tracks get it going.

I think that now that the :good ole boys: of racing are retiring and the youngsters are taking over the sport , I think things will diversify. After all the sport was founded in the south, run in the south and most of the drivers were country boys with the old attitudes. Now the drivers are from everywhere and have different attitudes towards people of color. Just find us some black drivers with the talent and the experience to run with the big boys!!!

Well the names Bill Lester, and Wendell Scott come to mind right off the bat..and I remember a guy named Willy Ribbs who ran a couple of races many years back. There's also a kid that drives for Ray Evernham thats starting to make a name for himself as well. Check out www.drivefordiversity.com and see for yourself, Nascar has had their doors open to black drivers for well over 40 years.

Check out the movie"Greased Lightning" with Richard Pryor and Beau Bridges, it's the story of Wendell Scotts career, it was made in the '80s, it's a great movie.

NASCAR is open to anyone who can build a team and try to qualify. Wendell Scott was one of the lesser known great drivers. Between 1961 and the early 70's he had over 145 top tens and one win with no sponsorship. There is no one else who can claim that accomplishment.

Why is it blacks can't pronounce "ask" (ax), but they seem to not have a problem with "Escalade"?
And, why do you think Nascar HASN'T opened "they" doors up for black drivers?

As has already been demonstrated by previous posters, your premise is one based in ignorance and lack of knowledge.

When do you think that Grambling college will open they doors to white students and allow a white quarterback?

Ah, you're back, stirring the same pot, 2 months later. Ya didn;t get the answer you wanted to hear, so you're gonna troll for sympathy?
Ya know where you'll find sympathy in the dictionary......?

There's an up and coming driver named Chad Austin who is African-American who may wind up being a superstar one day.
There's also a black driver in CTS.
In the booth, you have former NBA star Brad Daugherty who is also involved in NASCAR diversity discussion.

What is really needed are more black people who want to race.

I tend to think color has nothing to do with it. Its all about money. Can they get a sponsor? If they can, whoever the driver is still has to qualify the car. It doesn't matter if you're black, white, male or female. If you don't have the millions and/or can't qualify, you won't race in NASCAR.
