is it just like a regular egg you use to cook with or is it like special?

A decalcified egg is like a regular egg that you put the whole egg and shell in an acidic solution (like lemon juice or vinegar), and it dissolves the shell. All that is left is the membrane just under the shell and the yolk and whites - no shell. It's generally used to test bacteria.
