if all illegals were gone the taxes will still go up?

the jobs illegals are doing now have always been and always will be poor paying wages. the immigrants from ellis island did these. no American has ever made a decent living picking fruit.
most food production always has and always will be minimum wage. children used to pick berries. what are they doing these days? yes the people from ellis island were legal. but people are not going to migrate legally just to pick fruit at piece work rates. so please answer without saying anything about illegal is illegal.

Taxes generally go up. The government is like that, they like to talk about cutting taxes, while actually raising them. Social(ist) Security, for instance, has gone from a 2% payroll tax to something like 18%.

Illegals are heavily involved in the construction industry at the moment. This is a relatively new phenomenon, and there are still many legal construction workers who make good money, while illegals make much less. Construction was a decent-to-good working class proffession in the past. There's no reason that couldn't be the case again - except for the growing numbers of employers willing to break the law to undercut wages and labor-protection laws.

Meat-packing is another good example. At the turn of the last century, it was a low-paying, grueling, even dangerous job that was often done by immigrants (albeit, legal ones). Then, laws were reformed, unions formed, and it became a good proffession. Then, illegals were brought in, unions, busted and laws ignored, and it became a low-paying, unpleasant job again.

Slave wages and unsafe conditions do not have to exist in any industry. True, there are some jobs that simply must be low-wage, but in the past, those jobs were done by young people who's unskilled status was temporary, and who weren't trying to support families - or even themselves.

Illegals who take such jobs can't really live off them, they end up falling back on the 'saftey nets' our society provides - from actual social programs, to de-facto things like getting health care from emergency room visits. Thus, society effectively subsidizes the exploitation of illegals by illicit employers with no respect for the law, or thier illegal employees.

It is absoulutely wrong. Farm Workers have been abused for a very long time, but basically, you can, and you will make reasonably good money working as a farm worker. A good site, and this site won't tell you they are American Citizens, but they are. And in fact, they come from all over the world although in the central headquarters of the union, they tend to be Mexican Amercians. Finally, know this: some 75% of the people who work in agriculture are American Citizens.

Look at the link. They will be picking our crops when the growers are defeated in their efforts to use illegal aliens while the people of this country pay the welfare that keeps them alive.

If a democrat gets into office you can bank on it. Illegals have taken jobs away from many Americans.

Since Oklahoma has passed the new immigration law, I see more whites & blacks doing construction whereas a few months ago all I saw were mexicans. Signs went up for help because many have left, but guess what?? Those signs went down just as quickly!!

I'm sick of Americans not understanding what illegal immigration has done to this Country and is continuing to do.

Urge your representatives, governor, mayor, senators to follow in Oklahoma's footsteps. It's not racist, it's a matter of each State putting their foot down on illegal immigration when our lame government won't do it.

If you can prove every illegal alien is working for $ 5.00 an hour you can say they depress wages. Property taxes go up,school taxes,go up, illegals are not the sole reason of revenue.

Anyway. The price of fruit and things are not going to go up. Only a SMALL portion of our farming in this country is done by ILLEGALS. It is a scare tactic used by the PRO ILLEGALS to scare the country.

The fact is that ILLEGAL INVADERS pose a DIRECT THREAT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and they need to be stopped.

They cost us BILLIONS of tax payers dollars each year, they put our AMERICAN childrens education at risk becasue they flood the public schools with their illegal children. They have bankrupted hospital ER rooms and free & low income clinics because they feel that they should not have to pay for any medical. they suck up social security, wekfare, food stamps, housing, all of which is FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS paid for BY AMERICAN CITIZENS.

They move in to neighborhoods and plummet property values becasue no one wnat to live next to them. they destroy the houses they rent, they squat and have no right to do so. They are disrespectful to AMERICANS, our laws, our country and our flag.

They are ILLEGAL, yet they protest against our country IN our country, waving their home countries flag! thye gather in groups and intimidate people that walk down the street, the beg, they steal....need I go on?

They are taking the jobs neighborhood company's have done for years.
siding
roofing
landscaping
now driving trucks
these are jobs that pay well and alot of Americans wouldn't mind doing at all.
