It may not be culturally acceptable here, but we eat and sell cow meat... how do you think the Hindus look at us (the worship cows). We are heathens to them!

Well, it depends, if I were about to die and had no other type of food, then I'd eat a dog if it happend to be there!
But lets be real, in other countries some people eat dogs, that's their God givin' right! If they like to eat dogs, they can, as long as it ain't my dog! Besides, some countries are starving and can't get any food. If your family was starving, would you let them die?
Eating dogs isn't cool, but then again, we eat chickens and cows and they feel pain just like any other living thing. Oh yes, some people say, "I don't eat animals so I eat plants", how the hell is this different from eating an animal?! Plants grow, breath, eat and reproduce so how the hell you know plants don't feel any pain when you kill them, huh?

NO. Don't want to eat dogs. It's unclean meat. Any animal that is carnivorous we shouldn't eat -- to many pathogens etc.
It's a custom in some countries in Asia to eat dog meat. I went to a funeral of a friend's son. The dinner after wards was interesting because it was all philippino food. I had no idea what half of it was. There was a dish with meat and potatoes that my friend and i put on our plates. I ate a bite of it and it tasted horrible. We found out that it was dog meat and we got laughed at but it wasn't too funny to me. I'm sure it's a very acquired taste. Yuck.

Well, it depends on if they're really unhealthy or would be in a situation that would make them unhealthy. Dogs are food in other cultures. I actually think that selling them as meat for other countries would be a better use of dogs than putting them to sleep in shelters. That costs us money, whereas selling them as food would make us some and may help with the national debt. And those sheltered pets would make pretty tender meat. *lol* I don't want to eat dogs myself, but I've got a friend who tried it and said it's pretty much like eating fatty beef.

I think killing an innocent dog is inhumane and cruel. I suppose people sell the meat to make money the same reason backyard breeders breed their dogs and the same reason puppy mills exist. I have been to a couple of different asian countries and lived on rice the whole time i was there because i ddin't know what was in the food and didn't want to eat dog or cat.

If you kill an animal in a way that causes suffering, yes it is cruel.
But who are you talking of when you say "people sell dog meat". Sure, some countries eat dog (e.g. China, I believe), but as abhorrent as it may be to us, they see it as no different to eating a pig or a cow or any other domesticated animal.

I'm an animal lover. But I eat all sorts of meat (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, venison, elk, rabbit, ostrich, goat, lamb, pheasant, the list goes on...).
I personally would never want to eat dog meat just because it has connotations to me of being a pet. However, I don't feel I can negatively judge those that do; it's common in some cultures. Some cultures think it's horrible to eat beef, but I eat beef because in my culture it's perfectly acceptable.

Eating dogs is a culture thing. I don't see anything wrong with it in that aspect. We eat all sorts of animals that could quite possibly be family pets. And all of our farm animals are domesticated the same way dogs were.

I love animals, and I eat cows, pigs, chickens, and even the occasional Bambie!
This is what I was raised on and I find nothing wrong with it. There are those cultures that find what we eat disgusting and wrong. Just like you feel about eating dog.
I don't have the right to judge others because of the norms of other cultures.

I should start out with that I am life long dog owner & lover. I am pro life on any state.
However, in my life long quest to learn about different cultures, I have come to understand that in some asian cultures, it's common for older generations to kill and eat dogs. By no means do i agree with the practice.
