should my male and female cockatiel be together all year?

Birds are very social animals. Unless you are planning on breeding, they should be together at all times.

I had a male and female at the same time, had two cages. Just left the doors open, and they came and went as they pleased, back and forth between the cages. They usually slept in the same cage togather. I had no problems with them. The female I got as a baby, the male, I adopted as an older bird.
