There is nothing wrong with improving one's mental health (even if you are already at a healthy level). Personal edification is a very honorable pursuit. Meditation and self-hypnosis are very valuable tools in helping one release positive self-change. There are many "myths" surrounding these practices. Some people find them "mystical" and "scary," but they aren't. They are actually quite potent in being able to improve one's overall mental health. Medical reports have shown such to be true.
Medication may be necessary if you are dealing with a chemical imbalance of some sort. But even if that is the case, don't underestimate the benefits of meditation and self-hypnosis.

hi it depends on what affecting your mental help. Anti depressants helped me, sometimes you need that extra chemical boost. Also look at what makes you happy or sad and try to keep doing the good things and make the sad things better. Its not easy but the hard work pays off.
Dont feel your alone, talk to doctors mates let them know how u feel, some times ur thoughts are not as stupid as you think

As per Anna P. In addition, research has proved that creative activities can have positive effects on mental health.... so how about painting, pottery, sculpture, writing, playing an instrument, drama, dance, card making, knitting, sewing, woodwork, metalwork, cookery, gardening, flower arranging.... I'm getting bored now... you'll have to think of others yourself!!!

Quit smoking, alcohol and caffeine. Take regular exercise to boost endorphins (feel good hormones). Eat well and get plenty or restful sleep and relax. Be organised and keep on top of things eg bills. Eat plenty of turkey (contains tryptophan) and maybe consult your doctor for mild antidepressants. Surround yourself with postive people and see friends often. Congratulate yourself all the time and think positve thoughts.

To keep healthy mentaly its about keeping yourself active and happy. so...
1. eat well - lots of fruit and veg, make sure you eat enough to get enough energy, and a little bit of what you fancy!
2. get enough exercise - find a sport you like and do it on a regular basis.
3. get out and meet people - join a club or a night school to meet new people with similar interests, its easy to get talking - when you're busy it keeps you happy.
That's my advice - hope it helps. x
