Yeast allergy is a term that is often incorrectly used interchangeably with chronic candidiasis, candidiasis hypersensitivity, Candida-related complex, the yeast syndrome, yeast overgrowth, or simply "Candida" or "yeast problem.

A true yeast allergy would cause the body to release some chemical substances, including histamine and leukotrienes when food products contain yeast (brewers or baking) are consumed.
