1. Marry an American
2. Apply in the occasional lotteries the US has to encourage new immigrants (UK citizens not allowed )
3. Start a new company ( you have a year to prove it's real)
4. Find a US company that desperately needs your skills and will help you
5. look at www.visajourney.com

I am not sure how much I can help you.

I think if were you I would go to college first. There are many opportunities for foreign exchange (as one answerer already posted) to the US. Better yet, you could also try to get a student visa and come to the United States for Uni. One good piece of advice for you is to try and become a good student and stand out to your profs. Unless otherwise stated by the Professor go above and beyond the call of duty for assignments and projects that you have. You never know, one of your profs at UNI could help you get a job in the future.

As to one of the comments/answers that America has too many people, what kind of comment is that? hmmmmmmm I think people like you are a disgrace. As far as I am concerned we are living on stolen land. We are all foreigners in our own country, chew on that for a bit .........

What makes America great is the different people from different backgrounds.

On a different note, about the visa. I am going through a similar process. I have some italian friends that want to come here to work. I am still learning about all the processes and what paperwork they need. Obtaining a student visa may be easier than getting a work visa ( fyi - if coming to the USA for college) I am learning more everyday on the Work Visa front and maybe I can be of some assistance to you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. The email I usually answer is krazy.ph@gmail.com and I use the same address for msn messenger.

Good Luck and I wish you a world of success!!!

Ciao!!!

Most colleges have programs where you can "study abroad". Here in the US, programs to study in England are very common. I'd imagine that the reverse is also true. Ask your college counselor if there are programs where you can take a semester or two in the US. While here, you will be able to network with people who have a similar interest in living here on a more permanent basis.

If you're in high-school, try the foreign exchange student program.

Another option: call international advertising companies in New York and see if they have any UK offices. If you can land a job at one or an internship, you could probably work out a transfer eventually.

Best of luck to you!

You're going the right way about it, getting a good education and experience in your field. Bachelors degrees are ten a penny here in the US, you might want to consider getting yourself a Masters as well or getting extra professional qualifications. Then you need to apply for work with American companies, you will have to be better than anyone they can find locally as they have to prove that they can't fill the vacancy with a US citizen or a green card holder. If you are that good they will sponsor you for a visa.
Without a good education and work experience you wouldn't stand a chance. Your plans look good.
Good Luck for your future

This is not meant to be insulting, but you do need to improve your knowledge of written English: spelling, grammar, capitalization, and more. The advertising world will eat you up if your skills are not top-notch. It's not even clear to me what aspect of advertising you think will fit with your talents.

It sounds as if you want a "Big Dream Experience" that will change your life and make it glamorous. Well, I agree that it might be better to stay in your home and do something there. You're not clear enough on your goals and abilities.

I hope you reach your dream, missy, if you really love the USA. I've seen 'Freebird's' posts before and he never has much of anything good to say about Americans. We don't need that kind of immigrant. I lived in your country. Leave your British bigotry in the UK. Get a student visa. Good Luck.

Why does everyone want to come here????? Stay home and do the best you can there. We have problems too and you don't help by trying to take over what little there is here. Have pride in your country your leaving will not help whatever is wrong there. This may be the land of opportunity but that should be left for the millions of people here.

You want to come to America, you want to write for advertising and you want to make millions. The line starts in the rear.....while you are waiting...take some additional creative writing courses and some BASIC spelling. That would make you competitive at the lower end of the scale. There's a few million ahead of you.
