For a change, I regard your question a genuine one in its class, so will answer sensibly.
I am here because I have seen the excessive influence that the Christian church has had on Western civilisation. It affects all of us even if we do not subscribe to those beliefs.
Because it affects me personally I feel I have the right, even duty, to defend my freedom and beliefs or lack thereof.
In these days of religious extremism it is even more important that we counter the evils it produces.
It is only recently that atheists have been able to freely speak without fear of persecution or death. Although in some places that is still not the case. However, the internet generally knows no boundaries - so here I am.
Thank you.
EDIT
What a prat I am. I misread your question. Not going to start again though. Never mind.

I stumbled on Q&A last May while I was researching a question I had on breeding one of our horses. I finally got one reasonable answer over there after being told I would never forgive myself if something happened to my mare, and to just buy another horse. Duh! I didn't bother sticking around to ask how long there would be horses if everyone felt that way. I came here because I thought it would be a friendlier place. YeHaw! I sure am glad I stuck around or I would not have met people like you. I have diversity in my family and my friends, so why not here?
Edit: After all this time here, it occurs to me I should go back to the Horse Section and ask them if monkeys don't ride, why do we still have ponies. It would almost be worth the violation!

You are surely aware that all questions no matter what the category eventually end up in the open question section. And as such can be answered by anyone even if they never look at the section you post in.

Yeah Jeff is right. You never judge anyone badly and always give good advice. Buts as to your question I don't know why they are here. But as that one guy said, "they have every right to be here." And they do. I really pretty much like Athiests. Only because I like to see Christians get mad. But other than that they are relly cool.

They're here to get the rest of us drunk (by asking "why are Atheists here?) so that maybe, just maybe, we'll believe what they say. =) It's going to take a lot more drinking questions than they have to get me there... I may just have to go into a coma first.

this is religion and spirituality, and pretty much all in between! i think anyone who asks another one why they are here is wrong! but i know I'm not going to tell everyone what they want to hear all the time! that makes me superficial, (hint hint) and that's what makes me an individual and not a knee walker!!!

I want to learn about religions and educate myself. However, it's never really a debate just people treating each other unkindly.
I am not here to convert people to Christianity. If someone has a question.. I answer it to the best of my ability.

I don't ask why they are here, because I know why they are here. They unconsciously want to learn.
Peace!

I asked them that, and got rude answers for my trouble.
Sauce for the goose, i guess.
Pity.

Curious? How dare you question something or even conjure up a coherent thought, just keep your head down and pray for heaven, it's the only reason why you're here.
