I do, because I live in the dorms and that's the way that most of the food in the cafeteria is set out. If I didn't eat from buffets, I'd have to subside on cereal and pop.
I don't frequent buffet restaurants, though. Many of the establishments in my old hometown were far less than desirable, and though there are many clean restaurants, I simply have neither the money nor the inclination to eat out.
People can be really nasty, I know. Why some refrain from basic hygenic practices is beyond me. But I always wash my hands and use disinfectant if it's there... and if not, I just avoid things that look too bad.
It's not actually that bad, most of the time.

Eating food from a credible buffet isn't bad or dirty. It is true that some people don't have the sense to get a new plate and that can lead to the spread of germs. However, no one but the staff really knows what goes on in a kitchen at a very nice (non-buffet) credible restaurant...They could be just as easily be spreading germs. Buffets are nice for those who are picky or like a wide variety of food. Not good for dieters and those who don't know when to stop eating.

Yes, we have done on quite a few occasions. But we usually make sure we get there when the buffet opens, so we are near the front of the queue!
We like buffets because you can sample many different types of food & deserts. We usually go to buffets at hotels.

As for washing your hands...
Have you ever noticed that women usually wash their hands, but never make any contact.Men usually do not wash and have contact.Hmm odd.
I will go to a buffet. If I notice that some one is handling the food I don't eat that item. Small children should not be allowed to go to the buffet unattended.

Yeah I eat at buffets but only sometimes... I know what you mean but they are always putting fesh food out and they have tongs and other things that keep you from touching the food before its on your plate!! I know at golden corral they even make some of the food right in front of you and put it right on your plate!! Also they usually have servers 2!! You think buffet food is nasty you should try school food sometime!!

well since you cant be sure the cook, bus person .waiter, or waitress in your favorite 5 star restaurant has washed either and no telling where there hands have been or how much sweat has dripped into your food while they were sauteing your mushrooms i would say not much different than eating in a buffet so yeah i eat at buffets. i have no intention of cooking 7 nights a week.

I do. In college, especially my college, there is really no other choice, but the food (except the salad bar) is on a closed buffet: you walk by and have to have your food served to you. If no one is there to serve you, you better stand there and wait because if you serve yourself, the evil-lunch-lady-of-menopausal-doom will appear out of thin air and start screaming at you. *shiver* Besides the cafeteria tho, I eat at buffets because I am a poor college student and you can get alot of food for a little bit of money.

I stopped eating at the local Chinese buffet only recently. It wasn't because of germs, etc. It finally dawned on me that I couldn't take home any leftovers, whereas if I went to the regular Chinese restaurant I could stop eating at a comfortable place and take home the rest for breakfast. Ah, nothing like cold Chinese food for breakfast!

I will eat from buffet on an occasion. It does encourage overeating, yes the public is nasty, and the food generally really isnt that good for you.
Sometimes though, you just HAVE to have chinese buffet (or insert favorite food here).
Gotta keep my immune system healthy and up to date, too!
