yestarday....(the day assasins creed came out) my ps3 liek quit working. the night before....i was downloading a update to play online..but the internet messed up...and it got about halfway downlaoded with the update but it stopped.i dunno if thats wat messed it up or wat. but the update was just to sign in....to play online..i was playing the game itself(not online) on my ps3 so the update wasnt required. and when i put a game disc in now..it wont read it or give me the option to play it...??? i restored it all and evrything but still nothing. i put a cleaning disc in it but that didnt help either. it does read music cd's though..but not games....=[ does anyone know hwo to fix this?

I'm not sure if you did this or not, but if you turn off your PS3 or reset your PS3 while it was in the middle of the update, it can damage the PS3's system. If you turned off the PS3 or restarted your PS3 while it was updating you will probably have to send it in to Sony.

I've never turned off my PS3 while it was updating, but I read in the users manual that if you reset or turn the PS3 off in the middle of an update, it can damage the system, and also on the screen while you are updating the PS3, it says not to reset or turn the system off.

m8 listen this has happend to my psp 2 times ( its not a ps3 but the same problem) ok listen up..

ure ps3 runs on 'the update' it wont work with out it . if ure in the middle of an update and you stop it it has half finished software on it and doesnt no what to do.. ITS BROKEN... ITS BRICKED !! there is no way of fixing it... im sorry but you better start saving up for a new one... but being someone who feels for un experienced games i know how you can get it fixed for free... call sony ( yes its that serious ) tell them its the ps3's fault ( not yours or the internet cos then they wont fix it ) and say my psp just shut down in the middle of the update and now it wont work ( say it wont turn on.. or something) and they will replace it free... its the only way out ( trust ive done it) i feel for you man... please take my advice and survive this terrible ordeil ... goodbye

i would get a hold of the ps3 techs and ask them and see what they tell you.i have a ps3 fat edition and it doesn't matter which one you have, you have to down load the updates or you cant use any online feature,so im not sure what the other guy is talking about.hope this helps.good luck.

something sorta like this happened to me [ i got assassins creed also good game by the way :D]

and like the ethernet cable was effecting my ps3 from reading my ps3 games.
so disconnect it from your ps3 and pop in the disk..
then plug it back in.
u gotta do this everytime but after atleast 5 times it will read it normally with the ethernet cable.
good luck!

ps: it had nothing to do with the update messing up...cuz my update froze in the middle...and then i turned it off and it works normally.i updated it after and it updated pretty fast.

send it back and get a new one, or if your warranty dosent cover it or it has been to long dont use it for a while (3 or 4 days) then restart it.
