I started drinking at 21, and by 26 I no longer was able to function anymore. I lost my job, flunked out of college and got kicked out of my house all in one month. No longer was I able to drink every night.

I became a binge drinker after this. This is not graduating up either. Basically I could stay sober for a while, and then when I did drink I went on 3-4 days benders with no control what-so-ever.

A year and a half ago I caught a case. I received my first felony conviction for a weapons charge while I was intoxicated. I've been to three mental institutions for week long visits four times, and I've been to jail countless times. I'm on probation, and have been to a 21 day rehab last year. I went through a felons court for 8 months. Now I am down to min probation.

It's a hard go. It doesn't have to take 20 years for it to all come crashing apart. For me it took 5 years. Now I'm sober and doing a lot better. But I am still picking up the pieces, and will be for a long time.

It all depends on what kind of alcoholic they are. Functioning alcoholics usually don't have a "rock bottom" their health eventually goes but not their life. Then you have your binge drinkers and it all depends on how long and how often their binges last. Then you have your sever alcoholics who give everything up for the bottle and they are usually the first to hit rock bottom. N then you have people like Brittney spears n they just dumb
