I have my own ideas and would like to compare them. The typical first date location/activity would include:
1. Bars & Loungues
2. Coffee Shops
3. Lunch (if not able to/doesn't drink alcoholic beverages or coffee)(not dinner as the usual guy would do nor do you want to spend much $ on someone you probably might not see again)
4. Movie Theatre (usually if you know the person somewhat or followed right after 1 & 2 on the same day)
5. Shopping (only after 2 & 3 on the same day)
Atmosphere: Usually a very crowded place with high energy where you can easily go to anyone of these places.(ex. Citywalk)
I know it seems very out there, but I do my research and keep improving my dating life one step at a time.
So to edit to main question a little bit, What is you typical activity to do on a first date and does my information regarding that proves to be accurate compared to your own? If not, what doesn't?

start off with a walk somewhere and then to a coffe shop or pub and then movies or movies first then pub...you seem to have a good system up there stick to it

Depending on how you feel that person out to be i like to cook them dinner and either watch a movie or maybe go to one. Or could be a dinner somewhere and a quite and i mean quite little lounge or something for a couple of drinks.

lunch or dinner. never take a girl to the movies on a first date. u need eye contact, u need to be able to talk to one another and get to know eachother. dont go to a bar either. thats just a place to pick up a girl.

If I were dating .. dinner date or some place we had in common (Museum or Art Show in my case)
Bars, lounges, and clubs would be out, as would any place loud, or noisy....
( I don't drink, and I like conversation on a first date...)

Movies, eat before or after. Something to discuss, if after, something to look forward to if before. Don't have to talk during.

yea it does, but you forgot a restaurant (dinner). that is probably the most common first date experience for adults.
