You know a standard DVD? These are not high definition.

There are 2 new formats for high definition DVD movies:

BluRay and HD-DVD

Sony is behind BluRay and got a jump on the competition by including a BluRay drive in every PS3.

Microsoft responded by offering a add-on HD-DVD drive for the Xbox360.

We are in the middle of a format war right now, but this is driving prices down.

blu-ray, simply put, is another way of storing information on a CD, the amazing thing about it is that the CD can hold tonsss more information than a regular CD could, this means, they can make amazing picture and hours of movie/game time, on one simple disc.
