Religious people sometimes become fanatical and they can sometimes force their views on others.... not all, but some.
Spiritual people believe they will be judged by their actions, and by the way they live their lives... :)
I accept all people as they are - NOT just one select group.
I do not need to read a book or sit in a church to be a good person.
I am a kind and considerate person, and I volunteer my time to good causes. I help children who are less fortunate than my own, I donate clothes [and money] and other items to people who have less than I do, and I help stray animals.
I treat people with respect and I am the first to offer help to someone in need.
To me, that makes me a good person. I don't need anyone else to tell me that, because I know that about myself. :)
Good question - [star!]
:)

Religions are cultural/social organizations that attempt to rationalize the spiritual side of human experience. Religions attempt to name the nameless and conceptualize the unmanifested. A religious person is a devout follower of a religion. No person is more spiritual than any other. All of us are spiritual beings. Most of those who are commonly referred to as "spiritual" are actually just very religious.

Religious person is supposedly someone who follows a religion, an organized system of life (at least from the point of view of Islam)
I feel that a so-called spiritual person can be a good person who doesn't want to be limited by the rules of religion.. So he/she decides to look for the beautiful things in spirituality without the "difficulty" of a system. It doesn't work!

To me:
A religious person is someone who is attached to the church and to a particular diety. They follow 'rules' handed to them by the church or those who represent the church (ie. the Pope)
A spiritual person is someone who doesn't necessarily attend a church or is attached to any idea of 'god'. It's someone who is concerned with the spirit within themselves.
Now, having said that, the two - in general - go hand in hand. Most religious people consider themselves to be spritiual as well, in Christianity this might be the concept of the Holy Spirit.
That would be my opinion...

Religious people are folks that try to justify themselves by their actions. They seek to be "good people" and right with God through religious activity - i.e. going to church, "being nice," not smoking, reading a Bible, giving to the poor, etc.
While a spiritual person is one in whom The Spirit of the Living God lives. These types of folks may in fact do "religious activities" but it is not for righteousness or justification, it's because they already are righteous thanks to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who claim to be "spiritual" but don't have the Spirit of the Living God within them are humanistic ally religious. They are like appliances that are not "plugged in" to the electrical outlet. They aren't brimming with power. They are "spiritual" in word only. They may do some nice religious works, but there is not sustain Spiritual life or power within them.

Generally if you are religious you not only believe in a god(s) you also follow a specific doctrine. You may also attend a church or meeting weekly and offer tithes, or offerings. Spiritual people on the other hand don't follow a doctrine. They live their lives as good people, they may or may not believe in god(s), and they don't feel a need to worship in a specific place or at a specific time.

Religious is when you affiliate yourself with one specific religion. You usually attend church on a regular basis. Some people are more rigid and some tend to think that their religion should be the only accepted religion.
Being spiritual, you reject traditional organized religion. You feel that your actions and words speak for themselves. People that are Spiritual have a tendency to be free thinkers and much more accepting of people regardless of their different beliefs.

religion is rituals and traditions. Jesus taught the rituals and traditions of God. So Christianity is a religion orchestrated by Jesus the Christ.
Spiritual to know God. God prompts us with his spirit to understand truth and gain wisdom. So we act and react with the spirit of God. Being spiritual is having the attributes of Jesus. Being lead by the spirit.
