When I have cops behind me I obviously always try and go exactly the speed limit and often say on a one lane road the cop will tail me very closely. I understand this because going exactly the speed limit often seems slow on a lot of roads. Do you think when cops do that they are trying to pressure you to go faster and then pull you over or do you think they are sending the message that you can go a little faster and they won't pull you over?
I always feel bad when cops are following because I don't know what to do. I know I will be fine if I stay the speed limit but I feel like that frustrates the cop behind me sometimes as funny as that sounds lol.
Also do you think cops get annoyed how slow people go around them? Honestly a cop on the freeway slows down traffic so much, it's kind of funny but I think it would get kind of annoying as a cop. It's definitely noticeable to!

Yeah I guess it's stupid just go any faster, I just feel like they are pushing me and it's uncomfortable. I'll just try to let them pass or mantain myself better next time, I always get so nervous.

It's a tactic that cops use to get guilty people to make a mistake so that they can pull them over.
If you have a valid liscense and are a law-abiding citizen you shouldn't be worried by a cop following you.Cops look out for the reactions of the people they follow looking for any indication of nervousness or guilt. More often than not they are following you while waiting for the result of a computer check on your liscense plate number.

They are probably just running your tag to see if it's current and to see if maybe you have warrants.
Wouldn't you feel just a bit foolish if you sped up and got a ticket when you already knew the officer was behind you? I can't think of an excuse that would work in that situation.
What I would suggest is that you begin driving as close to the right side of the roadway as is safely possible to give him an opportunity to pass if he wants.
If you are worried about being followed make a couple of consecutive right turns. If he stays with you then he is watching you for some reason. If he was following you to see where you were going he would stay back 2 or 3 blocks so you wouldn't notice.
If he is following so close that you think he is driving unsafely, file a complaint. Most police cars have a visible identifying number. You will need that when you call to complain.
The cop on the freeway may be trying to slow everyone down a bit without having to write a bunch of tickets.
Most police officers working traffic enforcement patrol at either 5 mph above or 5mph below the posted limit. If they drive the speed limit they just see the same cars all the time.

My dad was being "pushed" by a cop and when he sped up the cop pulled him over and gave him a ticket. He even told the cop he sped up because he was riding him but the cop didn't care.
Keep doing the speed limit-your not breaking any rules so what are they going to go about it? Too bad if they want to drive faster. They have to obey the law also.

So what is the question?
Do you fell bad when cops are following you?
Well, no they're just doing their job that they get paid for. I don't go faster, I stay the speed limit because I would rather slow the cop down then get fined. He's just trying to keep the city safe.

I look at it this way. If a cop gets annoyed at you for following the law they are not a good cop and are doing the job for the wrong reasons. As long as your following the law, you should not worry about how the police feel about it because they're job is just to enforce the laws and make sure they are followed. Going the speed limit is legal.

No...when a cop gets close up on your rear, more than likely, he's running your tags. It's not that he's wanting you to go faster...if he's not satisfied going the speed limit, I'm sure he knows how to pass. Don't speed up, they will pull you over. Hell, I've been followed by a cop, doing the speed limit, and they've still pulled me over, accusing me of going 10mph over the limit when I know good and well that I wasn't. They are up to no good...avoid them at all costs, and never never never trust a cop. All that annoys them is not having a reason to give out citations or not being able to escort you to your local jail.

Go exactly the speed limit and make sure you dont speed up. With your luck the cop would pull you over right then and there. If the cop wants to get by he can put on his sirens and fly by... didnt think of that did you? lol

Yes I always wondered this too. It seems like your going to slow cause thats what the public do when they want you to get out of the way. But obviously the police are doing it for a different reason. If they need to go faster they will have their sirens on. They will just be running your plates and checking your speed.

I would always keep to the speed limit or just a bit below it whenever cops follow me.
It's safer to slow down than speed up, even if it does annoy the cops.
