An adult instructor slamming a seven year old on the floor and screaming in his face is way over the line and some adults, even karate instructors, lose it with kids and don't know when or how to deal with that sudden rush of anger and snap. I have seen it first hand and had a conversation or two with instructors back in the dressing room at tournaments for such behavior with their students. One or two have even been told not to bother coming to tournaments anymore because they can not keep their tempers and actions with others in check. Let the mom know so she can call him privately and tell him that he needs to realize this is inappropriate and he should never say or do something to a child that he would not do if their parent was standing right there. Secondly he is the adult and the one in charge and he needs to get his anger and hostility under control and walk away and cool off for a few seconds before reacting like he did, then come back and give a time out, and while scolding the child still keep his temper in check. She also should tell him he will lose more students than he realizes if he does not learn to do this and quite possibly get charges of child abuse filed against him by some protective or lawsuit happy parent and then his reputation and his business will be in the toilet. If he reacts negatively to this then I would find a new instructor and school.
Not all instructors are great with kids but seven year olds do sometimes what a seven year old does and its not always nice, or what you want, or appropriate. While it may call for some kind of reaction on his part that is way over the line and if he does that with them just think what he might do to you or another student if he losses his temper again. If he does not understand this now, coming from someone after what he did then you can bet he probably will lose it again with someone else. So I would let the mom know so she can have this conversation with him and based on his reaction let that determine if I would continue to study there myself. Also if he is not the head instructor or he has a partner then they should be brought in on this also and made aware of it.

I think that is just ridiculous especially to a 7 year old. She's pretty much scaring the boy! Probably shes trying to toughen him up. But that is no way you treat a kid in a karate class. That should be done in an advance class for adults lol.

Attention Deficient Disorder is becoming a serious problem .If you have ever attempted to teach one of these kids they can be maddening .Medical science only answer is to medicate them into a zombie like state while collecting kick backs from the pharmaceutical companys for pushing their drugs.
However even if that was the case he was dead wrong if he thinks this approach is going to break thru to the kid. These kids can't connect what happened a half hour ago to the present.
He should be advising the mother to spend her money on therapy.

FIND ANOTHER SCHOOL NOW. That "instructor" is NO instructor. I would not tolerate that in any of my students toward each other let alone a senior. There is no excuse. That is why there is supposed to be an age criteria for promotions. An instructor is not to harm a novice, to do so disgraces himself, his teacher and all in his lineage. It would be cause for his teacher; if honorable to disown and slamdunk this clown.

Did the child get hurt? If he didn't why would this bother you. Martial Art's is a form of discipline mind over matter youngster. At the age of seven a young boy must prepare for manhood and yes slamming is helping. I know for sure he didn't slam the child on cement or concrete. I think you are misinformed of being too soft at the age of 15. You should be encouraging the instructor not saying your hurting him. Man up and help the seven year old man up as well.

In our dojo we usually allow people to wear the rank that they say they have from another school. But they will not get any kind of promotion until they are up to our standards for the next rank. This goes for all student kyu or dan ranks. You must meet the standards for the next rank before you can test for the next rank. If you say you are a black belt but you skill level is yellow you must go through and learn everything that we require for white belt on until the current rank that you are wearing. You must also know and demonstrated the things necessary for the next rank. Yes black belt have failed the test.

This kind of behavior is wrong. Never do you throw someone's child on the floor and scream at them.
Tell your parents about this.

Steroids. This dude has major power issues...it's sick. He might be a roider. But, really, you should just ask him. Actions like that deserve an explanation from the psycho that commits them.

you don't have nearly enough information regarding the circumstances (i.e. force used, what was yelled, did the kid ask for it, etc).
the bottom line is if your gut says something bad happened you must contact the authorities and let them decide what is legal.
