I am an athiest, but if I really want to bug people, I tell them I'm a Theravada Buddhist, because if I was to be religious, that would be the religion I would choose. I am a 'proper' athiest - wasn't even Christened as a baby! - Go Mum and Dad!
My mum was Christened and Confirmed, because it was the norm in her school but she is an atheist pure and simple. She doesn't want to believe in anything spiritual and doesn't need to either. She has had a hard life so belief in a God would be difficult for her. (She has osteogenesis imperfecta type 2 as well as being deaf and has declining eye sight. As well as giving birth to a son who not only inherited her brittle bone disease but has also got asperges syndrome.)
My dad's mother was a Quaker and his father was a Jew. But he isn't particularly bothered about religion. He is just content with living life for the sake of life, and not for any religious reason.

Mormon, as well as all the grandparents, great grandparents..
My mom was something like a 10th generation Mormon. She had relatives that were in it since the very beginning.
But, they had started questioning (FINALLY) earlier this year. I got a phone call in the spring...
Dad: Do you still go to church?
Me thinking *****. AHH here comes the dreaded conversation and lectures I've been hoping wouldn't happpen for the past year.
Me says: No.
Dad: Good. Neither do we!
Biggest shock I have ever gotten. And the best change that life could ever bring.
They gave their official resignation two weeks ago. :)

My parents, like everybody in my family, were Italian Catholics. I'm a Catholic both by upbringing and by conscious choice. I did a lot of research into my religious options and asked questions before making the decision to remain Catholic.

My mom was raised Protestant. My Dad was Roman Catholic (passed away in '98). Because of their marriage my mom promised to raise us Roman Catholic. I thank her all of the time for her strength in doing that. I guess my mom can be considered a lazy Catholic, she believes and is very knowledgeable of the Roman Catholic church after having raised 5 Roman Catholic kids, but she's never taken the steps to become Catholic. I am a Roman Catholic so is my husband and so is our son. God bless you.

I don't really have a religion. One parent was raised Jewish, and the other one was methodist. Since they received a PHD and a Masters degree, they were smart enough to realize that religion is just an opiate for the masses.

My mom was raised Southern Baptist
I was raised non-denominational Christian but it never took. I became pagan in 1983 and found my true path of heathenism Asatru in 1991.
Mom followed into paganism in the late 90s and then heathenism a few years ago.

I consider myself Spirtual but not affiliated with any particular denomination....I don't attend church.
My parents were Fundamentalist Southern Baptist right out of the Bible belt..... I was a preacher's kid. It sucked.
I've now learned that God is not to be feared.... and that He loves us no matter what we do or which church we attend ....or don't attend
Peace to you.

I'm Christian. My parents were nominal Christians - meaning that we went to church whenever it was convenient, and it almost never was. I believe I remember three trips when I was a little girl, and nothing after I was 13.
