What if you're right?
And he was just another nice guy
What if you're right?
What if it's true?
They say the cross will only make a fool of you
And what if it's true?

What if he takes his place in history
With all the prophets and the kings
Who taught us love and came in peace
But then the story ends
What then?

But what if you're wrong??
What if there's more?
What if there's hope you never dreamed of hoping for?
What if you jump?
And just close your eyes?
What if the arms that catch you, catch you by surprise?
What if He's more than enough?
What if it's love?

What if you dig
Way down deeper than your simple-minded friends
What if you dig?
What if you find
A thousand more unanswered questions down inside
That's all you find?

What if you pick apart the logic
And begin to poke the holes
What if the crown of thorns is no more
Than folklore that must be told and retold?

You've been running as fast as you can
You've been looking for a place you can land for so long
But what if you?re wrong?

Your question sums up the attitudes "Athiest" probably resent as opposed to fearing; what I sense is the resentment is about your giving yourself the Authority to Define Reality and all the trappings based on a limited Highly Narrowed view, the Christian Church.

You see, that view is so narrow an alley, it, by coincidence I imagine, wink , Only Allows that "Eternal Life" to those whom follow Your Doctrine, and again, that Doctrine is narrow, simplistic and dumbfounding at the same time. Also, by coincidence again, I imagine, your Church drags in Billions in "Jesus name",,,a clue my friend.

The Christian Church lays full claim to LIFE; how arogant can one get by dismissing all other faiths and ideas?

Isa came in many lifetimes to many cultures to teach Truth; the Latin Translation of Isa is of course Jesus or Imanuel. Many cultures views the encarnations and interpreted each into a faith based religion; it might suprise you that Isa isen't Christian as his word was distorted then and now by the Christian Church.

I don't fear eternal life, I just don't believe it exists. Why do you fear death to the extent that you have to invest your belief in an escape hatch?

Look what God did with eternity on His hands, He created this universal drama with humans the bit players, God the protagonist and Satan the antagonist. God was front and center in all human drama in Biblical times. To me it sounds like he had way too much time and couldn't resist stirring up trouble.

Humans would be the same way if given eternity. I prefer Nature's way... we live until we die.

What makes you think your limited human mind can even comprehend something like eternity?

You're just terrified of dying, so you embraced something that quells your fears. The fact is, you don't know squat about what happens when you die, just like the rest of us.

I don't fear it.

Eternal life would be awesome if there was a way you could actually have it.

But there isn't.
