2 years ago i was 17 and weighed 167 pounds. today i was weighed and my wieght has dropped to 150 pounds at a height of 6 feet and 1 inch. now i know the cause of my weight lost is lack of eating (healthy foods or not). so i know i must eat healthy. but at the same time i want to start lifting weights to build muscles. so will protein shakes aid me in my quest of building uscles and also gaining weight at the same time or will protien shakes cause weight losee because i dont know really what they are used for?

Protein shakes are a convenient way to increase your protein levels without cooking meat all the time :-). If you're serious about putting on muscle mass, you need to get your diet cleaned up. You should consume at least 150 g of protein a day. A scoop of whey protein in a cup of milk provides about 30g.
